View Full Version : Rattling
I've done some searches and haven't come up with much. So any new aquired knowledge on how to dampen the rattle noise comming from the rear vision mirror on a later model magna?
It's attached to the windscreen, but there has to be some way to stop it rattling so loud.
It makes the audio sound horrible when at lower volumes. grrrgnd grrrgnd grrrgnd.
I've put styraphone behind the lisence plate and that doesnt rattle anymore (the boot garnish does alot though).
Any other tips or tricks to stop the rattle!

Same, mine looks really nice a night with all the lights moving in different directions with the bass. Its like the visualisations on winamp or wmp.
Yeah, it rattles loud. I have some big bass going. The rattle is a higher pitch, so it is still semi audiable. And vision.. Its just all a blur. Even the blur is blurred.
I was wondering if any of the other big baller fellas here had a similar problem and\or solution?
Im going to swap amplifiers today (not because of this) and have a look at it, see if theres a solution apart from removing the mirror.
turn your radio down....... :doubt:

You're not alone. It's a fairly common problem, even if these guys don't have it.
Currently I have a ball of paper wedged between the top of my mirror and the roof lol. It's dodgy as but it stops the rattles. A proper solution would probably be along the lines of making the mirror heavier, perhaps by attaching some weight to the back of it, or hanging something over it. Or maybe some foam to absorb the vibrations..

buy a LCD reverse mirror and mount a camera in your bumper.
mount it to your roof
no shake
no noise.

mine is reeeeally loud... mokes so much difference to the quality of the bass you hear if you hold the mirror tight while listening to the stereo because the noise it makes sounds so much like distortion or flutter... hold it still, everything seems so much punchier and tighter!...
i have actually bought a new one to replace mine, but i cant figure out how to take the stockie off...
also, i'm sure the TE-TF used a different mounting bracket, so you guys probably don't get this problem as much as the later models?

Thanks, but thoes articles are more 'i have the same problem'.
Theres a few dodgy solutions, the blu-tac in the ball joint and whatnot.
I'm looking for something a little better, blutac didnt work for me.

looks like the mounting bracket is different (i think the TE/TF slides down, the TH/TJ slides upwards) my TV does have a reverse camera input, but that pretty much makes the screen pointless!
