Hey, any of you guys heard of these things? Apparently they plug into your cigarette lighter and the wall and slowly charges your battery. Any thoughts?

we use the MP3090 from Jaycars. Extremely good and we use it at shows to power up cars or trickle charge. from flat to started is only half hour. Not cheap but I guess we do a lot of shows and we have a lot of lights and sound to power up, plus we often have to recharge flat batteries, so it's something we didn't go cheap on.

Otherwise, you can pick up pretty good and cheap ones from Bunnings or Jaycars

Okay, ta. Brothers TP has electrical issues. Combination of regulator, alternator, battery and maybe a short I think. He only drives it at night and a small amount on the weekend so it's not charging very well. Just wonder if something like this might be worth while.

wouldn't that mean you'd have to leave your keys on the ACC position to get power to cigarette lighter?

I could be wrong, but cant charging your battery while still connected to car wear out your alternator? Have heard that it can even stop it from working. Could be wrong so dont quote me on that one.

my old man has this thing where u plug into the wall, has a few trippy dials and graphs on the machine, and u get them chunky battery clamps, and clamp them up to ur battery, leave it over night and it charges the battery.

I have no idea. When dad first explained it to me it sounded like it was something that plugged into the cigarette lighter and then charged the battery without mentioning that it was plugged into the wall. For a moment I thought some amazing entropy device had been made :bowrofl:
