does anyone know the wattage of the stock radio in the vrx s2
is it 40x4 ??
also do the tweeters use some sort of crossover ? if they do is that in the head unit itself ?

i still have no idea on the stats of this system. i wouldnt want to replace them with crap if these are decent quality and they do sound decent.

I have Alpine Splits in the factory locations :)
Most tweeters should be able to fit there, as long as they are small enough...

They are crap, the stock head unit is rated at about 15 watts a channel realistic about 5. The whole speaker system is garbage, the 6x9 in the back are rated at 15 watts and the splits are about the same. The cross over is not a real cross over just a small capacitor in line on the positive speaker wire. If you change to a decent deck the tweeters would last about a day before blowing.
The system is matched though so the speakers don't take much to drive them
The split location may look cool but is the worst location if you want stero imaging. In the Ralliart as with mine the tweeter is relocated to the top of the dash in the little area near the edge of the window. This means the top end reflects and travels along the window giving much better stereo imaging. Of course my splits are worth $800+, my deck $1,000+ and so on. you get what you pay for

The vrx factory location is not that bad in term of sound staging.
The speakers themselves aren't that bad for a factory set up either.

Actually the back speakers are 20 watts :)
As for stereo staging, you wont get better staging having it reflect off the windows. Its been proven that it can distort your 'staging' (mix it all together)
Have a read up on www.caraudioaustralia.com
Wheres pics of you car?

Yeah.. For a low powered system it sounds really nice. Change your head unit and theyll sound even better..
