ok, so does this switch actually do something?
I ended up finally cleaning the interior of my car (its not that bad) but i noticed some dirt down under the console.
long sory short removed the pwr/eco swtich. dcided to see if it still did something, drove it round th suburb and i am so sure i was gaining 500rpm per gear, the pedal was wayyyy more responsive, but there'd be way to much force feedback if u let the peddle go, kinda like a hard take off with the car in L and releaseing the pedal.
so yeah, whats it do, ive never used it b4 and now i think ill leave it in power. lol

It changes when the car upshifts/downshifts.
I found on my old TP Auto that Power actually used less fuel.

ha, less fuel, cool, might leave it in power and see what happens.
if i was to disconnect the switch, it would remain in eco correct, becoz the default is "*power* off" yes?

I am not sure what leaving it unplugged would do to be honest. I have never done it :)

might try it and see tomorrow,
no centre console there atm, so i have free access to pwr mirror switch and pwr/eco
im pretty sure itd stay eco, but i'll find out. i wouldnt mind not having it there and putting a few custom switches in there place.

TM didnt have it.
and here's the odd thing, i am next to positive i have a tm gearbox...... yet the pwr/eco switch does actually do something, hence why i thought it wouldnt....
my tcu is tp so.......... i dunno.
it's a button above where oh wait glx.
straight after your gearbox controller, there is a small rectangle slot, should have a cover over it, thats where the switch goes, sometimes used to the tailgate switch in some wagons.

well, its just a switch. so there can only be an open and closed. if u click the power on, then the circuit is completed and it will change wen u shift etc. if u leave it in eco and/or unplug it totally, the circuit cant b completed and so it will stay in the eco position.
im no electrician but that would be my understanding of it.

well thats true, and thats my thought
however it could be a 2 part switch whereby there is no off.
its kinda like a old bench grinder, it has a fast or slow switch, but to power or depower the item u plug it in or unplug it.
so it could be a switch whereby dependant on the position is how it acts.
but i dont think mitsu were that clever back then, lol lets hope anyway.
find out tomorrow morning , so.
so anyway kinda back onto it.
wat Exactly does it do.
i can describe all the differences i experienced and there is abit of change, but nothing i could pin point and say its doing.
main diff was the ability to reach 6200rpm per gear without trying and without struggling. and that the acc could have 45% throttle and start kicking back gears as opposed to the standard 75% throttle.

sooo, its basically a light version of the auto transmission mod?
as when i flick my switch, i get an extra 500-1000rpm before it changes up
same thing or different?

All it does it make your car rev out longer, and then whilst driving it'll kick down quicker and will also stay in the same gear longer when accelerating.

well that supposed mod should have more power than a *power* button as theres no linkage with gears.

It isnt a standard on-off switch by my understanding, there are far more than 2 wires going into it (6 from memory, 2 of which are for the light).

Just as an FYI too Astron - the TP TCU will not run a TM box. When I bought my old Safari wagon some fool put a TM box in (cut and rejoined the plugs to suit), but the TCU could not run it.

well fyi, my car is running proof it can be done. so ures was ob bodged, as my tcu is still stamped 8/89 same as the car.

EFI or carby. EFI TCUs don't always like running the carby boxes. However, sometimes it's within tolerance of the computer.

my grandad said the button was part of an "EGS"??
something about exhaust gas going back into the intake plenum to lower the revs and idle speed?
or less oxygen to burn or ....
I dont really remember it didnt make much sense.
