They are called Parrabolics and everyman and his dog wants them and they cost heaps..
Do a search on Parrabolic lights on this Forum and you will most proberly get about 20 threads..
Goodluck :D
OH Yeah.. Welcome to AMC, please come again.. lol lol
yer verada paras fit on TEs plain n simple :) (well not so simple :P).
but if you come across the one piece paras (headlights + indicators) get them, rather than the 2 piece verada ones... but still.. 2 piece is pro :D

how much would they set me back?
is there a big difference in the 1 & 2 piece?
some people got them for ridcously low prices like 100 or so.. but mistui sell them for 700 per headlight i think?? something silly like that... a lot of people buy them from wreckers for about 400-600 a pair.

yeah thats the spirit, get angry with Mitsi, I know i did when i found out how much those frikin things cost.
I was tempted to steel some from work, then i realised they had camers, then i realised my lights worked fine, then realised that i have said realised too frinkin much.
But the point i was originally tryin to make was only buy em if you see em for bugger all.
And welcom to AMC, and don't worry im not normally this fruity (just very late and tired)
i blew a parker bulb.. that was my excuse for new parras (although i put the blow parker bulb back in :| go figure).

Don't worry its a scientific fact that being on AMC will increase you likely hood of passing your emams. Or was that failing your exams. I get the two confused
my head.. just wants to drop... my nose is on the paper when im writing.. :'(

You'd be lucky to get them for $400 now. Last set of 1 piece I saw was $600 from the wreckers. Standard lights are technically better anyway.

Exactly - the standard Hella lamps are far better than the parabolics - Stanley make the parabolics (IIRC) and they are DOT pattern basically - no 15 degree flare for lighting up the side of the road etc.
Parabolics are for looks - and are a good size to mount HID projectors into :D

Second that, the para's on my TJ are shiet compared to the ones i had on my TS, no more seeing kangaroos on the side of the road without having to have the highs on. Although the KS para's are better then the TS std lights(IMHO), dunno why they couldn't have continued the design(as they had the LHS flare).
But they look good, so it's all good!!! :D

The 3rd gen Paras are rubbish, mine more so as they are the 1 piece ones and the lens are scratched! I've even resorted to having the foglights at night so I can see off the side of the road, technically illegal and bloody annoying for other drivers. If you want good looks but average light then go for it. If you prefer to see then stick with standard lights. I know I'm thinking about swapping to normal Magna lights.

If you're want to swap with some normal ones, I'm always here for you! lol

With the cost of swapping headlights, and the amount of mucking around it appears to require, I'll only swap lights when rego tells me mine are unroadworthy. I'll try and get a photo of the scratches on the lens when it stops raing on a weekend.

You can fix a scratched lens OK. Been there done that. You need to do quite a bit of work though - and once the lenses have been done, you unfortunatly need to keep doing it - they go yellow, as the UV protective coating is wrecked :(
If you want to do this, you need to use wet and dry sandpaper - varying grits from about 800 grit up to 1200 grit, then 3M polishing compound. Don't be tempted to use power tools, as they generate far too much heat and cause the lexan to 'bubble' or craze. Takes about 8-10 hours per lens, done properly, and you end up with very sore wrists.
I have remade lenses that have been very badly damaged with 3mm MR12 Lexan sheeting. Not for magnas, but used the old lens as a mould for some bog (bodyfiller) and used the mould to shape new lenses (in an oven, with a vacuum cleaner for vacuum moulding - could use a heat gun, but better off doing it this way...
Was going to make some new polycarb lenses for the glass lensed (2 piece magna) headlights, but never got around to it.
Cheers
