try the boot release - boot doesnt open - damn!! bitch of a thing!!

ok - before i get flamed by saying - replace the battery - i did that - no effect - anybody else had this problem?? i am about to replace the front headlight and i figure - hey - i might as well check out the manual for the car to see if it is a wiing fault while i am working on the car - but was curious to know before i start wether anyone els has had this problem and how did they solve it??

I know you have to recalibrate them every not and then. Check your manual and it shows you how to do it. Takes 3 seconds, very easy. Happend to my factory Central Locking when i first got my car before i ditched it and got the autowatch.

You got a replacement battery for your remote locking key ring on a TH magna???? Man.... Was I taken for a ride..... Essendone Mitsubishi Spare parts told me they didn't exist and I coughed up $58 odd bucks for a complete newy!

I always go to Northern Mitsubishi in Preston.... they are Ace!

Dude - you really got duped!!

those batteries are 3 dollar batteries from anywhere - Big W, Kmart, Kodak - everyone sells them - but that didnt solve my problem - even after replacing ht ebattery it didnt work!!

I tried to re-calibrate the reomote - key to acc-on-acc-on-acc-on in 5 seconds - hazards flash twice - press the button - nothing happens!!! bastard!!

must be a loose connection somewhere - or a blown fuse - does the central locking have it's own fuse??

will look in the gregory;s at some stag e- when i get a chance to!!

Umm, just wondering, you sure it's not the remote instead of the car's wiring? If the central locking works by using the key, then it's almost definately a busted remote.... not necessarily battery.. You could go find another person with a magna remote that you TRUST and try recal. your car for their remote to see if it's crapped up or not... Only do that as a last resort though as I don't think anyone wants someone else being able to unlock their car... (and imagine the confusion if both the cars are together and either one of you try to (un)lock the doors...)

I had a problem with my remote a while ago, it was only a central locking remote, but pushing the knob and using the key still works the central locking.. Eventually I fixed the remote and recalibrated it.. It works again from the remote but even still I leave it at home since the dodge plastic keyring snapped..

Totally ignore this if you're sure it's not the remote... It's just I'd hate to see someone tear apart their car and find nothing when it was just a busted remote.. Hope it works out for you

Those remotes don't allow replacement batteries. Well mine didn't at least, when mine died i ask mitsu parts what battery i needed and they said you couldn't get a battery to replace it as you can't open the case, you need to replace the whole thing which was like $80.

Now thats a joke, so i just scrapped the whole thing and put a top notch alarm system in.

cant undo the case - thats Bvll Sh1t!! it just clips together - and the case isnt even attached to the elctronic portion of the remote - it just sits inside!!

hmm, maybe the remote is bust - oh well - i just like using the remote because if i use the key - my house keys bang the door - not a very shappy about scratching paint - so the remote i loved - maybe i better get another one - or else get a new alarm fitted - considering i wanted to do that a while ago!!

If you change a battery you have to reprogramme the remote, which is covered in other postings!

sorry for confusion - yes i did try to re-programme the remote - but when i had hit the on-acc-on-acc-on-acc and the hazards flashed (as they are meant to) i hit the button and it didnt flash - it is as if it isnt transmitting at all anymore!! grrr!!!

it is just ****ed!!!

i did face the same thing with my magna a few months ago .... at first even i thought it had to do something with the coin battery within the remote so i changed it ... but thing didnt work at all... after weeks of despair and the unbelievable price asked by our local Mitsu dealers i decided to fit a aftermarket system. It cost me less than 100 bucks and im more than happy with it now ...

I've seen this before, it was just the other day when I was at the mitsu service department, a guy had exactly the same problem the circuit board within the remote had actually come loose and something needed to be re-soldered apparently, could also be a dry joint / dirty contact perhaps?

Anyway the guy behinde the desk at the service department told him they couldn't repair it and told him to take it to a watch / tv repairer that might have the right tools for the job.
