Help needed, my 91 TR increasingly pops the battery light on, and then runs very poorly (obviously running off the battery). I've had the alternator checked out by RACV he advised the brushes were fine and the unit was generating volts. Any ideas where to look next?

Voltage regulator mate thats what the problem was with mine when i had my TS

I agree that the regulator is the first thing i'd check - even if the RACV says its generating voltage it could be intermittent and they have a three stage rectifier where each stage fails successively over time - replace it no matter what !
Important - the TR had a simple but important modification for some types of alternator - should take a good auto/electrician 5 mins to sort it out - cheers :cool:
