I have searched for this but hadnt found anything of use....

On my SE i have one very sticky accelerator which is not only making me look like a fool either having to blast away or bunny hop but its starting to destroy the clutch...

When cruising for a bit the pedal gets extremely hard to press down, have any of you had this - apparently its a common problem, is it just a matter of spraying some silicone spray down the cable or should i replace them? Can i get them from anywhere or do i have to get genuine ones? what dollars?

yer tis a common problem its even worse when u have cruise control too
the way i fixed it as much as i could was adjust cable B (if u have cruise this is the one from the actuator to the throttal body if no cruise then this is the only cable) yer loosen the bolts at the back of the plenum chamber and tighten the cable till it just moves the TB, then i loosed cable a (only used if u got cruise its the cable that comes from the pedel to the actuator then tighted that cabled till the actuator just moved
once i was done i got some wd40 with the lil long nozzle and sprayed heaps down both cable a and B then around the spring for the throttle body and the spring around the actucator

that fixed it heaps but its still sticky compared to other cars its just another fault ive gotten over

well i had an odd prob with my tn sedan when i had it, the pedal would always be hard to depress. and sometimes not come back correctly.
found out my carpet had a buldge and was stopping the pedal doing its job poperly.
only found out when i put that carpet in my wagon and had the same problem.
ended up cutting a slit in the carpet for the pedal arm. its fine now.

I have had this problem recently, mine was due to a weak rear engine mount. So when the engine was under load it would torque towards the rear and the acclerartor cable would get caught on the heater hoses.

I have cruise so i got 2 of them... anyone know how much they are aand if you can get them from Autobarn or do i have to go genuine?

i will tighten it up over the weekend so hopefully that might make a bit of difference - although EGO is right... even if i do fix it its only temp..

Well you did ask and i shall answer...

I finally - after 18 months - got round to putting the cable in!:bowrofl::gtfo: I had the cable for about 3 months before i finally put it in:nuts: It was a very easy job that in total took about 5 mintues. It appears that it has fixed the problem about 80%.

I got the cable the runs from the pedal to the cruise actuator because that was the only one that mitsi had in stock and it cost $90. Yes it is a genuine part and there are no other options on where to get it.

The one that goes from the actuator to the engine (cant think of the name of that bit!) is about $150 and they had to order it so i just got the other one and hoped that fixed it which it did.

interesting....

but yeh i knew they where expensive (my 2nd post http://www.aussiemagna.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34442&highlight=dealer)

the way i tried to overcome this issue was actually play with the spring on the throttle body, mines a lot better now that i had played with it but it got to a point where it would get stuck and not close so i re bent where i had put one of the stops on the spring which was enough for it not to get stuck and enough to make it spring back with less tention

i would still rather it less hard to push tho, maybe its time to get 2 new cables aswell

I'm currently also enduring this issue with the elite. the pedal is heavy at first initiation, but then when ure witin the 'range' the pedal litens up, i do need new cables, they are rather stretched and old. but yeah the cruise control mechanism is to blame, may source one from a wreck and get the springs and all replaced to make it more fluent, then replace the acc cables.
