Hi, this is my first post, just joined. I made alumium checker plate floor mats for my TJ, I had factory floor mats so just traced the pattern off them. they look good.

if you brought a roll of that material. it would be interesting if you 'carpette' the entire footwell with it. ive seen it done before, and looks cleaner than the shifting mats.

hey that looks pretty good.. ive seen the fake looking checkerplate floor mats you can buy from supercheap and autobarn and they look hidious so admitedly i thought they where gonna look ordinary.. but yeah i actually quite like that!

You'd need to have it moulded, i'd say.. unless you want seems thru the job
:(

but would look brilliant, perhaps a bit shiny tho?

yeh you have to buy it in an 2400mm x 1200mm sheet, you can get two complete sets out of that. i have factory mats that came with the car so just traced them on then cut them out with a thin cutting blade on an angle grinder and ground the edges to smooth then off. then just sat the carpet mat back in car and marked where main bend was where it goes up firewall (no bending required in rear) then bent them on the edge of a saw horse to suit. it was a bit of trial and error, just do a bit at a time till they sit right. had a bit of trouble getting full accelerator, when it was in i just sat in drivers seat and pushed hard with my foot to bend it to the exact floor shape. you have to put the seats right back to get them in, and right forward to put the backs in. but worth the effort doing them as everyone who sees them want some.

Looks like I have to make trip to my friendly local steel merchant

Did you use aluminium or Stainless Plate??

no just thin alumium it bends pretty easily, you might be able to get smaller sheets. not sure. have seen ones done for other cars just using cardboard as template, they dont look as good as the proper factory shape template. glare is not to bad, sometimes get a bit depending on sun angle, not very often. they don't seem to get to hot either, i thought they would but they dont

looks really good. Another mod i'm yet to do. .....

I would love to see the full foot well done, but notshore how you would put all the curves in without cutting the material

i had a burl at doing that in my old barina...and found that water seeps under the cheacker plate and rots/moulds the carpet without you knowing....

Hi, I no longer have my Magna but have kept the Checker Plate Mats. If anybody is interested in buying them just let me know, I also have a near new standard rear muffler and near new standard springs if anyone's interested. Thanks
