View Full Version : Engine Conversion
I'm thinkin' of sticking a new engine and box into my TR. I would've gone for an SR20, but i wanted to know first if Mitsubishi makes any decent engines that i could whack in there. If that fails, about how much would it cost to rebuild, with costs of better cam, pistons, etc included. Any info you could provide me with would be greatly appreciated.

These guys get Frontcuts of Diamantes,200kw 3L mivec V6 unless im mistaken, $3500 to get the frontcut. dont know about install but im told its a farly simple proposition (as engine swaps go).

i'm pretty sure silver_bullet's twin turbo 6g72 DOHC from the 3000gt was transplanted into a tr that was originally a 4 banger...bit more problematic ask him im not sure or not thats his on fastmagna

A 'simple' engine swap as long as you go automatic - tippy. There is a chunk of labour to rewire etc, and look at what ECUs and TCUs you have/need. If you go automatic, take the front-cut's dash. Electro-luminscent, very specky, and the tacho should work with the engine! and the MVIC work with the Diamante's ECU.
But, if you want to convert to manual at the same time, then search for the thread on manual 6G72 MIVEC.
yeah, unfortunately mine's a 4cyl job.

You can always turbo the 4cyl. It's possible to transplant the DOHC 24v in the 4cyl one, just needs more work.
The 4cyl's respond very well to turbocharging.

Ah yeah 4cyl... Its alot easier into the V6 ive been told.
turbo eh? intriguing...
how much would that cost? (supply and fit)
wouldn't i need an intercooler and stuff like that too though?
i admit it's rather amusing to picture my magna's engine with a turbo mounted on the side. lol
Atleast then i could join the westside boys crusing up and down highst in Penriff.

Estimate cost: with stock internals at around 7 to 8 P.S.I $5000.00 + Plus
Whack a 4G63T from a vr4 in or if u got extra cash get a EVO 3 job. Im assuming if it fits in my Tn it should fit in a TR...
Source a 4G64 block, in the right configuration, and whack the 63 head and turbo on it.
