Greetings All.

Im looking at a set of audiobarn 6.5" 2ways and a set of audiobarn 6x9" 2ways at the moment...

I have been given a quote of $720 for the speakers and a cousitc 4x50wrms amp...

Audiobarn 6.5" 2ways $143 (Usually $219)
Audiobarn 6x9" 2ways $199 (Usually $349)
Coustic Amp 4x50 Wrms $378 (Usually $419)
What do you guys think?? Would it be a good system connected to my Pioneer DEH-4650?
Worth it? Quality?

Cheers,

Whilst Audiobahn are good, you may see if you like the sound of Eclipse and Boston...
Will you be happy with just 6x9's and fronts ??
The system you have laid out will sound good, but for that kind of money you could get a Heap better deal by using a Lesser Brand...

For thats kind of money, you could get a Set of Pioneer 6x9's, Clarion Splits, a Boss amp and a Clarion sub for the same type of money but it will be far less quality..

Greetings All.

Well...Im mainly looking for value for money...and i was wondering if for the money ill be paying...will it have nice, SQ qualitys, as well as some "doof"...

There is no way i'd touch pioneer (any type of speaker or amp) or boss, maybe clarion for rear fill...and MAYBE a clarion for cheap doof...but ib probebly look elsewhere before i turned to clarion...

This system is not a dedicated SQ system, but does had SQ in mind...Id probebly turn to DD or focal for a 10-13" sub...when im ready...

If you're going to go on a reasonable budget like that, I suggest you go the Hertz route. Hertz splits, Hertz 6x9s and get a Panasonic CQ5400W headunit, too many people have Pioneer nowadays, go a lil different :P

OK so you don't like pioneer, thats cool, I don't like Kenwood, so I can see what you mean..

What about going JBL? JL audio, Vibe , Soundstream or Kicker ???
They all offer great gear that would fit into your budget and System requirements???

Greetings All.

Ok In the amp department, im quite a fan of coustic amps...htey are VERY underestimated...my mate got the same 4 channel one as i want...box stated 50wrms perchannel...birth certificate stated 72wrms a channel... not to mention very clean amp/sound...

have you got any other alternatives/suggestions that would be as good quality as the audiobahns?? not to mention for a similar price...

What do you think your doing mate, that's my install!

Now where am i going to get my uniqueness from, oh well still got my amps and subs...

Amps and subs combination is copyrighted by me, so you gotta pay me royalties for having the same setup hahaha.

Oh i really like JL audio splits, since your shopping at jb and all, if you don't mind get the amps second hand, cos you save a fortune and there are always high powerones thats really cheap.

Plus if they were treated right they'll last you the life of the car so you can't really lose

Hahaha, well it's quite a common package the Hertz route at the moment, but simply because they're great quality speakers for the price you pay.

lol @ audiobarn... Sounds like some country music festival...

Anyway since you will eventually be looking to get a sub as well.

Instead of spending $750 on 4 speakers and an amp. (I take it thats not installed)
How about this...
$400 on splits and $250 on a 2x100 amp. $100 on door prep (Deadening/baffles etc)

Rear fill is fine stock. You only want max 20% rear fill anyway imho. The stock crap are fine there for now off the headunit. (I dont run any rear fill atm) If you want to get a bit more volume from them highpass them around 200 hz so they wont bottom out from the bass.

If you are after quality sound and enjoy ur music then put as much emphasis on this as possible. 6x9's/rear fill are good to get loud, but if you want smooth sounds that you can really enjoy, you NEED good quality splits up front where YOU hear it. Front Speakers are the most important part of any system.

So I'd suggest you go out and have a listen to some different brands. Steer clear of commercial stuff. Try Dynaudio, Morel, Focal, Diamond, Hertz and Boston for starters.
Once you find the speaker u want, find an amp that will give it generous headroom. Dont spend too much on good quality audiophile amps as you wont notice the diff between these and reasonable units. (obviously steer clear of crap) But Alpine, Phoenix Gold, Mb Quart etc do the trick. Power will be more important. So go the best 2x100 watt rms amp you can find.

Alternatively, run the splits off the headunit for now, save up and get a good four channel amp. 4x100 w rms. Then u can bridge two channels on this to run a sub later on.

Peace

Tim
