Just after some assistance. Have purchased a TW VRX AWD and am getting the Sprintex S/C installed. As a result I am also getting the dual exhaust similar to VRX II's. Anyone know who/where in Sydney to go to have the cutout done to the rear bumper. Obviously Sprintex is in Perth so I can't go to who they use. I've rung SSV and they say it can't be done (well they must really know there stuff - because it is being done) and now don't really know where else there is. Anyone care to help out?

The place in Perth that does it for Sprintex quoted me $225, Sprintex charges $300. But thats in Perth I'm in Sydney. I'll keep asking around.

As you know, Peter, Sprintex sent mine away to a guy they know in Perth who does this sorta 'clone' molding thing. Comes up magic for $350 painted and installed.

Maybe Tony can contact this guy and find out for you if he knows of anyone in NSW who does similar work. Or, you could air-freight your panel over to Perth and possibly have it back within a week.

All the best with the project, mate. It will be worth the time and money, believe me. :D

Already spoken to Tony and the guy who does the work in Perth. couldnt really help out. Sprintex is making a bit of a mark up on the work , $125 as the place does it for $225. And unlike your TJ VRX my TW VRX rear bumper does have a panel it is the whole bumper, which will make it a little expensive to ship over. Maybe I should drive over and have a holiday in WA while they install the Supercharger and fix the bumper up!

Got to remember EGO this is a TW not TJ. It is a full bumper not an add on like they did on the TJ's

Okies, assuming I'm reading you correctly, you're going to send your car to Perth for the S/c conversion. If so, then while it's there, I would suggest getting the bumper done.

What you have to realise is that the $225 is what the guy charges just to do his thing. Additional charges, such as bumper removal and re-fit (done by Sprintex) and painting (done by some spray-painter) plus 'handling' charges' (transport to and from various locations), all come out of that remaining $125. In fact, I'd say that $125 wouldn't cover it.

Anyway, it's a bargain to me.

Compared to what EGO is saying it is a bargain for sure. But I dont really want to go to Perth lol. would prefer sprintex to install s/c here, which they are finalising there subbies over here now. so will just have to find someone over here to do the bumper i guess or forget about the dual exhaust.

When you first posted up the picture of your dual exhaust, VRX-II I realised that something didn't look right.
I donno if it matters to you all THAT much but if you compare your exhaust 'cut-outs' to EGO's the arc of your cut outs simply just slope down to the bottom of bar. Whilst EGOs flows with a sort of lip of the bar...

I doubt that makes sense but here where I drew in the grey bits is how ego's rear bar flows:

edit: fixed image

I noticed that.. I wasnt gunna jump to conclusions thats why i asked for diff angle..
Mine is actually a cut and shut of two bars.. Its very hard as of the slop on the outside edges.. :D Mines not perfect but good enough for 95% of people to not know.. :D

If we're looking at the rear of the Sprintex AWD Showcar, then I think any distorsions you see are caused by the lense of the camera (looks like a telephoto shot to me), not to mention the photographer's, erm, skill-level (as a photographer, he's a great drag-racer)! :P

Okies, if you can find out exactly what the 'clone' molding process is called, along with equipment name/s, I think that would help in your search, i.e, finger-walking through the Yellow Pages and surfing the Net, etc.

Yeah, have had that chat with the guys in Perth, Just got to do a lot more ringing around I guess. Will have to find a plastic welder then take it to a panel beater to have it painted again I guess.

EGO/ARDEI - I think you will find that the difference you guys are speaking of on VRX IIs bumper is purely because of the colour of the car and the lighting. Both sides of his bumper look equal and the right is MMAL original.

As for the pic i posted the difference is purely shadow.

Point taken.

I guess you're right, it was the lack of light towards the lower part of the rear bumper that made it look funny. If you could get pics of different angles, that'd be great cos from that angle its simply too light and makes it look like something you could do using an airsaw.

It is the shadow. look at the light on the ground, obviously coming from quite an angle.

If anyone is interested in have a bumper modified for a dual exhaust, I have found a place at Blacktown that will do the modification, paint work needs to be done at a smash repairers. Should be getting it done in the next few weeks will let you all know how it goes and post a few pics then.

Well, Sprintex have guaranteed me that the two cut-outs are identical, the whole panel being totally symmetrical and paint-matched. Guess I'll find out when the car finally gets here from its holiday in WA. Reckon it's all camera distorsions and shadows and light though.

Good to hear you found a place to do the mod for you, DOG. Let us know how it goes.
