Well, I have ripped the Head unit out of my TP Magna which is about to go to god and need to put it into my wifes TH Advance to relace the stock unit.....

The question is, is the job easy enough that I can bite the bullet and do it myself (I have read the artcles on removing the centre console - it scared me) or should I pay $88 for the local Auto-Electrician to do it for me.

I will be getting an Harness adaptor so I can plug stright into the wiring loom on the TH, but the complexity of getting out the centre console and getting the new head unit in (and looking good) is concerning.

Any advice? (or people who in Melb who are audio installers and would do a cash job)

Hey don't worry too much, i pulled out my dash wif out the guide thats on here. At least you know where the clips are all located. I didn't, had to figure it out for my self.
But once i done it, its simple, just a little scary cos some of the clips are in tight

Yeah I had to do mine first go by trial and error as i didnt have a guide. Was pretty scary sometimes, but now I can get the cd player out, 2 front door trims removed and backseat out all in about 10-15minutes! :bowrofl:

bah dont pay 88$... do it yourself. even ive done it many times now, the thing is, if your ever unsure of anything, it takes approximatly 5 seconds to make a post here, and 2 seconds for people to start helping.

do it :)

Well Ive done about 10 HU and speaker installs now and never had any problems. 3 of those were fixing up dodgey 'professional' jobs which cost my mates over $80 each. :doubt:

Not saying your dodgey fhrx, ive seen photos of your installs and they are sweet as with a lot of care taken. But these blokes just went to places like strathfield etcetc and got ripped off big time.

I have done 8 different Head units in 18 different cars ( my Friends keep their Gear and ask me to transfer their gear to their new ride)
Experimentation is the only way to learn, I mean the guide on here is pretty straight forward, you are going to get a harness, installing a New Head unit Securely and properly is easy..
Just wait till you want to Build an Enclosure for a sub, its more a Science then work....
