this may increase induction noise, but will you will lose power, unless you duct the airbox to get air from somewhere else, but even that is debatable.

I would suggest leaving the snorkle on

You might well hear more noise, but I wouldn't recommend it because you'd be sucking up hot air. Performance will suffer unless you drive around with your bonnet removed.

take your snorkel off and put the k&n panel in......and you won't be able to wipe the smile from your face the first few times you plant your right foot :)

i did a bit of a test(induction noise) when i bought my k&n panel filter......

paper filter+snorkel= no noise

paper filter,no snorkel= a bit of noise, much more than stock.

k&n panel+snorkel= a little bit more noise than stock.

k&n panel,no snorkel= holy crappers!

but now that i got my exhaust i don't hear it as much lol

I have a standard air filter i'll be removeing the snorkle and see how it goes and when taxes come in i'll get a k&n air filter.. :D i have already had a performance exhaust (genie) with a genie cannon

With the snorkle gone, you will notice a nice throaty growl. It surprised me after the dyno day after some thief removed mine :D. I haven't even been bothered to put it back on :bowrofl:

Removing the snorkle can also give 3-4kW, (as seen on my dyno run), but in a hot engine bay, I'd say you'd loose rather than gain.

I removed the triangle peice of the intake and the 2 resonating chambers(for added effect but it nothing) then ducted 4" flexable tubing down pasted the gearbox and into the front car. As it 4" and goes through the engine bay the water doesn't get sucked into the engine, should this happen to you I do not take responsiblity for your modifaction. (just covering my rear end:). Any way it's not too loud and I've gone past cops at full ball. With full exhaust custom intake as above easly takes on 3.5lt auto magnas. Hope this helps.

so will it damage the engine by removing the stock intake snorkle?

Doubtful, but as others have said you may experiance a sluggish result as the engine warms up as the hot air will be drawn in, plus your filter may get dirtier faster... the idea is to get colder air in... not hotter

So you can appreciate what the K&N pod sounds like with no box enclosing it... i love the sound and dare I say it, louder still than standard filter set up with intake snorkel removed... I am being slack and need to make the custom box, accepting that the sound will be deadened somewhat.

The sound is good in my engine bay, but the power suffers... not for long tho

so would ya say the power loss is worth the sweet noise it makes?

Well I cant really say as I have a K&N pod, not K&N panel... I don't believe I have lost that much power... only from take off... in fact I believe I have gained more in the higher rev range and in torque up hill... I just know I will gain when I get this custom box made. Cant speak for the idea that is being proposed here.
