is this an official pic? or some sort of photochop?
either ways, that lower lip/bar section needs to be destroyed....

Looks great, top effort!!
For me, the lowerbar/lip looks awesome, very smooth.(similar to a VT?)
Perhaps some rounding of the grill section to alleviate the sharp corners?

I dont know about it. I would have changed the front bar(lower) rather than the middle. I would stay awaf from TJ stylings. Also how are you going to change the shape of the lights? How much is that modified car lowered?
And one last pissy question can someone post up a VRX front bar?

Mulga... I sort of chopped yours even more (grille modded more and lowered the front bar some more too)
Just a quick chop...a bit average
I like the design Bunbury... sort of reminds me more of the trans am feel for the front end... lets face it... different is good! It would be good to see a project like this take off

i still think a TL with the VRX bar looks alot better then any of those chops. Theres nothing particularly wrong with the smaller headlights but the grille is a bit ordinary sorry
On a side note i really wish i could afford the money to put a VRX bar on my wagon..

ill admit that it does tend to grow on you... but you know what it reminds me of? the grille reminds me of a VK SS commodore :P
I still think those eyelids on VRX front bar would look the biz.. anyone wanna photochop it? im too much of a dunce to do it myself
aRDEi
01-07-2005, 01:08 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong Simon, but those aren't just eyelids stuck onto the headlights but the whole front quarter panel has been modified?
I admit it looks way better than stock and I have not doubted your work after I saw the Bunbury kit on Velocity's car. Although, I really do not like how the grille is not integrated with the front bumper. Looks kinda tacky  . Maybe an idea whilst designing the kit/front bumper?
Cheers. :)

They are fibreglass eyelids and they're glued onto the lights once painted. tried painting the lights and it looked lousy lol
There is no point in moulding a complete F/bar for just a grill replacement so hence you have a line were the old grill has been removed and new one installed but it's not that noticable in real life (aRDEi your the first one to mention it )
Also being the first one made I'm going to do the production ones slightly diff and that join between the lights wil be far less noticeable

yep i like it better today than yesterday, its growing on me. The only issue i have is the sharp edges the grille has, sort of looks weird on the rounded shape of a TL  But otherwise a nice improvement
I Like the grill, how much ? :)
Not too keen on the eye lids - too ricey!

Any chance of a boot lid lip for a TJ2? Nice and subtle. Kind of like the 2004 A4 3L Quatros or the HSV Grange.

ok the today it seems better, but i think maybe the angles are too sharp for the TL nose, but i think it might look alright when its hooked up to the rest of the front bar thats being done up
Bunbury Motor Sports
02-07-2005, 09:17 AM
I know it's hard to tell from a pic how soft/rounded corners are but I can assure you that the edges are rounded to match the existing corners on the car.
In fact the bottom edge of the grill is softer/more rounded than just about any other corner/edge on the car other than the boot so it's the old story of you need to see one for real.
dont know about it.. it looks to much like the last Lancer.. that grill is a shocker, too angled and straight, doesnt suit the rest of the car....
Mold a tjII vrx bar on it and make it a straight through grill, no bonnet of anything & i think we'd have a winner.. the eyelids are good but a little harsh...
all in all a good effort
Thunda

Simon have you looked anymore into modifying the front bar as it still needs a little bit of work to give more agression to the overall look from the front
The Magnaforce
02-07-2005, 03:41 PM
Fire awayThey should have been made like this!
mix that with the tj bonnet with the lip curving over the nose area rather than the flat, and it'd look awsome. I hate tjhe bug eyes of the new magnas.

Are in the process ot doing a boot spoiler for T/E to T/W but is not just a lip. It's low and extends out past the tail light/quarter panels which gives the rear of the car a wider look from the rear end.
The TL face kit will be no more than $385 complete with mesh ,double sided tape, instructions and I'm trying to find a Mits badge that will go straight on. :)

That's a bloody good price. I don't know if people have actually checked out Body kits for Magnas and found what I did: they suck and cost TOO much. Simon's work here is bloody great.

Tim-E
04-07-2005, 05:00 PM
on a side note, those wheels are a very good example of why chrome wheels suck. Got any nicer rims you could chuck on that TL, alloy or polished 5 spokes perhaps  cos i think it would make the whole car look better :)
i'll take one if it's painted, how easy is the install?
Just looking at my TL - You would have to cut the front bar to fit it!
Bunbury Motor Sports
04-07-2005, 06:08 PM
I had polished ROH R/T's and never again they looked great but were ALOT of hard work to keep em looking good. Chrome dosen't look good in pics unless you have the lighting right.
The kit is not painted as it is nesessary to get the paint matched to your car as the same colour can very greatly from car to car. Just check the comparison pics both cars have the same paint code.
Yes you need to cut the orig F/bumper through between the headlights to install the new grill and as said before Thugout the line on production kits will be alot less noticable. :)

05-07-2005, 06:58 AM
thats the stuff thugdout! Although i would probably keep the bit in the middle of the grille (the bit that looks like a TJ) but have your more rounded bottom corners of the grille.
In saying that the original kit has started to really grow on me.. my only problem with it now is the lines from where the old grille was cut off.. wouldn't it be possible to add some kind of putty into those lines and then smooth them off so you cant see them??? If you could then i dunno maybe ill buy it over the VRX front bar that i was orignally planning on getting... maybe remove the plastic thingy's in the vents at the bottom of the bumper and add the same mesh into that as the grille.. would look pretty good me thinks..
so can this be done???
and yes thugdout you defently need a job in the bodykit business!!
RJL25
05-07-2005, 07:42 AM
here you go even with my super dodgy ms paint photochop i think you will agree it looks alot better without the line.. much smoother and cleaner. I now officially like it :P
Bunbury Motor Sports - you said the kit comes unpainted as it needs to be colour matched matched.. thats fine just a question.. how much do you estimate it would it cost to have a panel beater fit and paint it?
Bunbury Motor Sports
05-07-2005, 11:46 AM

and that is the bonnet line near the headlights.....
now i know due to the original lights that thats the reason, but maybe on a darker car it would look less noticeable and more likeable ill see if i can photochop the area for people that cant read jibberish
edit, ok heres the pic, notice the bonnet line goes straight to the lights.

i showed it to a mate and he couldnt tell that it was a bodykit.. his exact words where "thats just a factory magna isnt it? dunno why but it looks a hell of alot better then any other TL magnas ive seen.."
i think thats a pretty good compliment when a mod is well done and looks factory, but also significantly improves the looks

The prob was not the original lights it was the bonnet itself.
If you look closely at the pic or better still aTL next time you see one on the street, have a look at the bonnet line where it runs down between the guard and bonnet and when it get to the headlight it kicks out towards the side of the car. If it was straight I could have made it look as though it ran thrrough to the top of the light but life is a compromise when your working within the confines of someone elses work
