hey guys
i've inherited a very crazy electrical problem with my car

started this morning when i started my car, no stereo. pressed all the buttons and nothing. Later on tonight i popped the bonnet to check the radio fuse and it was fine so i just put it back in. All other fuses seemed to be secure. Went to start it and you could hear the ecu reset and i lost a heap of functions. I lost;
Trip computer
Fuel gauge
inside light
the buzzer that goes off when u turn the car off, open the door and leave your lights on
Air/Fuel ratio gauge
Central locking
Cruise control light comes on, but does not work

Now there has been no change in drivablity but i cant check my fuel consumption. One wierd thing with the head unit is that i could press eject, the staker would light up and a CD would come out, just to turn off again once the CD was out (Ralliart Eclipse double din head unit).
just when i got home i turned the car off, waited a moment and restarted it and it took a little longer to kick over.

This has got me stumped, but 2morrow a mate and myself will just pull the console apart and fish around with everything.

if you have any idea what's going on, or if this has happened to you please let me know so i can fix it up. the car knew i was going to spend money on it 2morrow so i think it decided to take a dump on purpose.

cheers
jase

Sounds like something to do with the BEM Body Equipment Module (computer controlling all the type of stuff listed), the fuel gauge is related to the centre display, can't see a direct link to cruz but it does talk to eng ECU which talks to BEM so it could be in that link. The cruz light probably is hooked to the pwr up cct and doesnt represent actual functionality of device.

Unless you've had the dash apart just before this happened, then go back in and have a good look, otherwise as above I guess.

Good Luck.

pics please 20's mmm

since the stereo on/off runs on the ignition power and is also powered from constant power and still ejects/lights up i would assume your ignition power is not working properly or is shorting somehwere.

Lift and reset the ID switch in the fuse box under the bonnet. The ID is the 2 fuses that are sourrounded by a yellow holder. If you look at it you'll see what i mean.

They use to lift them up at work so the interior light, stereo etc etc couldnt be left on.
