View Full Version : Installing Ram Pod..
Hi All,
Im going to be installing one of the K&N Ram Pods with the cold air intake onto my VRX Magna. (ordered through RPW in WA to be shipped to Melb)
Just wondering whether there is anything i should be on the look out for. Mainly is it a straight swapover or is there some little secrets i should know?
Also.. Will this change the sound of my car?

Its a simple bolt up and burn away. If you disconnect the mas sensor wiring, just make sure you remember to re-connect it when you start the car again.
Most excellent.
Ill be sure to post a pic :)

*edit* how do the RPW extractors sound? Do they give off a nice rumble noise?

in terms ouf rumble extractors won't really aid sound, your muffler and whether or not you run a resonator will give you your desired sound.

Yeah, the noise of the exhaust does change abit... and the suction of the air filter as well... it sounds deeper and the air filter "shhhhishhhh" is slightly different....
HAHAH... Me too.... GF's not around... it's only me and my car... problem is.. she lives in my house

GF..... *sigh* :(
I own the house... she sets the rules... bummmmmmer...... I own the car... she decides where the interior gadgets go... Double Whammy...
When dad flies 6000kms for a visit.. triple whammy... why is the exhaust so loud? Why do u drive like that? Why this why that.. why is this in the house, why is this out there, one reason to build a sleeper car but then again, he inspects my engine, why is the cover red? how much for the filter? why spend so much money? Do you know money is hard to come by? Study Hard! Don't spend so much money! (And I wonder why he keeps going to Crown)... sometimes I envy you guys whose parents don't care what u do to your car.. But then again.. he's paying my expenses here.. and I have to listen to him... :( ... now and then, I save some money out and try to split it between the car for my self satisfaction, to the GF to keep her mouth shut, to the pets coz I love animals to death.

My dad's cool with all my mods.. but my mum on the otherhand...AHHHH!!!
shes has a fit everytime she sees me spending money!
i had to hide my indash tv and PS2 for 2 months, then she found out... oh boy.. how did she find out, mmm.. she normally doesnt touch my car cos she dont like the sounds it makes... ie the exhaust  but this particular day, she thought my car was 'too dirty' so she fired her up, to move her onto the lawn, and!
"BENJAMIN!, WHAT THE HELL IS THIS TV DOING IN YOUR BLOODY CAR" was the exact words she yelled at me :( - then she found out about the PS2 under the seat when she vacummed the car :(
and mind you, she was mad, she only uses 'Benjamin' when she's mad, otherwise its just 'b' or 'ben'
errr... how did i get out of this,
'Mum, you know brett.. yer, the one thats selling his car, yer well he sold it to me for 500, he sold it really cheap cos im a good friend of his'
- You know and i think everyone else know the real value of these two items alone, just look up on the sony website  - My mum kinda cooled down after i made her a coffee :) and dinnner :(

my mum is the one who chucks the dummy spits about what i spend my cash on - but similar instances - i live over 1600k's from my parents - so they have little say in the matter, and i have live by myself so i am fully independent - if some doesnt like me doing what i plan to do - what do i care?? my GF knows i am interested in cars - she gets bored in about 5 mins flat after talking about them - so she has never come on a cruise with me and probly never will!!
oh well - when the time comes to buod my car - that is gonna be tuff - what to spend my time and money on?? car or GF - they both keep coming back for more!!! grrr, my girlfriend got real cozy the other day when i said i got a letter from the bank - the kind that says - congratulations - you have been selected for a new credit card - and then i told her - i am not gonna bother - she kinda went - oh!! and off she went again about her business!! funny that - money - mm yes please - no money - hmm, i will interest myself!!

I would rather spend my money when im young and can before the whinging mrs wants a house and kids.
Yes its good to invest invest invest, but i will do that when i have a larger disposable income to do so and a little older. Until then i want to enjoy my youth in a nice car.

i believe you speak for most of us...
Well i donno bout you guys, but i dont have a chic, i dont need one, as long as i have my car and my family, im set! :)
I never liked kids, use to always look after the nextdoor neighbours and man! bloody hell! no thank you! (having said that the 19yo accross the road is pretty set... mmmm...) anyway im gonna get a 2 seat sports car (keep the magna for show only), drivers seat for me, and the other for whoever, but NO room for the kids! cos there aint gonna be any!
Think what you want! but NO kids of me!

my mum went and got my exhaust put on my car when i got it booked in cos i had to work, she said on the way home, it sounds cool, i might get mine done..mind u she has a new ba futura...
it think my mum is the only one in the world that encourages the spending of money on car mods...

GBM, getting your mum to vacuum your car. You've got it sweet.
just an update on installing the POD.
Installed it last Saturday.. But ended up taking it off until i can get some proper brackets to hold the filter in place.
The 2 little strips of Galvanised steel does not hold the filter all that well (filter too heavy).. RPW should look into that.
Next question.. Anyone know where i could move it to? without it sucking up water or anything like that? Also.. I noticed if i revved my engine nice and hard (5500rpm) and let off i got a nice gurgle noise through the muffler. Idles fine, runs fine.. but i cant keep it on there till i find a solid bracket to hold the filter in place.
