okies peoples if i ever needed your help now is the time, im gonna be killed by the folks if i cant get this fixed soon
the prob is, well i was wirin up some CCFL in my boot and i ran them off the boot light, simply cut off the light and attached the pos n neg wires of the CCFL, now wen i stripped the wire of the boot light the wires were live and *may* have touched, thus killin the power to different parts of my car, they include the interior light the speed alarm and the central locking, could be others, any way i think its a fuse somewhere but where the bloodly hell are the fuses, i found the fuses in the engine bay but they dont look like the ones im after...someone out there please help, if your only ever gonna help me once let it be this time...

cheers
sean

Pull them out - should be a little tool there to do it with.

Or use a plyers - but be very gental!

Once you pull the blade fuse out - look to see that the wire that crosses over is not broken - if its broken, not connected or melted/burnt - its a gone!

You should have a few spare in there complimnets of mitsubishi - so just replace.

ok checked both fuse boxes, all are fine, except i cant work out how to remove the fuses in the little yellow square in the engine bay fuse box, all i can do is move them up and down

so apart from the fuses wat could it be?
oh yeh and for some reason the central locking came back  after i checked all the fuses still no interiot light, boot light, speed alarm

thanks

I cooked a square plastic fuse when fitting my shift kit. I couldn't buy one anywhere locally so had to use a jumper wire with female spade terminals to get the car going until the fuse was available. Good luck! Hope your heart stops racing soon and the veins in your forehead don't pop lol Sorry, I feel for you man.

Are you Modding your Parents ride or your own ???

Step one.. Check Fuses that have to do with your Interior light, Horn and Hazards aswell as Instrument and lighting..
2. Have a good look at the fuses make sure none are black or look even remotely broken.

3. Never mess with the cars electrics with the Battery still connected

4. Learn from your mistakes..

5. Pack your Bags in case you get booted out for fudging the car..

I was messing around with electrics, I was hard wiring in a three way accessories socket - wanted tunes so had the batter connected. Wires touched while I was twitching the wires, wires went red hot while I was holding them. Burned two fingers and torched a hole in to my thumb nail - burned nail smells feral! Blew teh fuse.
For the accessories (different to your interior light fuse) it was a small blue one in the drivers foot well. Didn't look blown unless you looked carefully.

ID the fuse (it'll be in your hand book) and replace it.

check your fuse box cover, it generally tells you what is what

OMG... i have the same problem. I was driving home at night with my mum and she turned on the interior light and then... silence...
No light and no stereo (worst part... you try a 3 hour drive at night with no music and a mum sitting next to you) Upon closer observation in the morning i have no boot light, and my intake sensor is fooked (if i run car with it unplugged it makes no difference - unknown as to whether it is realted to the interior **** though).

I can't find a fix... I feel like ripping the car down to the chassis and replacing every ****ing piece of electrical hardware...

Anywayz going to teh auto sparky 2morrow... let ya know how it goes.

Had the same problem on parents car, bad idle, changing gears was rough, trip computer and interior light wouldnt work. Found the problem was a dead fuse, couldnt get the yellow thing off the fuse in the engine bay fuse box so took it to mitsu the next day, they replaced the fuse and reset the battery, worked fine ever since. Only cost like $25 if i remember correctly.

when looking over the fuses in the interior, grab a small torch and shine it over every fuse.
i went over twice and didnt see a broken fuse.
then went over it again and spotted the smallest of breaks.
go over all the fuses with a torch and check every fuse for even the tiniest tiniest break. chances are you'll find it

Hi Guys
Best advice for next time is...be prepared
Just buy a 12v test light ( the kind that has a pointed tip) - that way you can easily check if there's power at each end of the fuse without pulling the fuse out.

Cheers

firestorm have tried disconnecting your battery for half an hour or so?

Sure have... and anywayz what would that solve?

Ok just got the car back, turns out it was a "faulty fuse-box". :doubt:
$416 later, the car runs fine now.. i bought an intake sensor and fitted that before i took it in also.

Stupid plicks left the screws out of the kick panel, moved my amp wiring, left out the fuse puller and put no spare fuses in the fuse box cover.

Not going back there again...

But its not under the passengers steering wheel - so don't bother looking there. :bowrofl:

hey mate did pretty much the same thing about 2 weeks ago, the fuse your after is in the fuse box under the hood, its in one of the yellow holder thingys, to get them out you need to pull the yellow bit up, use some pliers or some thing, this releases the fuse and it should be easy to pull out after doin this, look for the one with the corresponding symbol (it should look like a downward facing light) from memory its a blue, 15amp fuse, and also from memory, it should be blown th fu*k up....

hope this helps,
tom

I have fought with this thing before too.. what is the secret to getting that yellow sheath thing off, or out of the way to get to the fuse? I have been tempted to break it off... mainly out of frustration! lol

theres 2 little clips that hold the yellow thing in on the side, then the fuses are held in... put needle nose pliers on the fuse the a small flat head and push one side that holds the fuse in and pull it out at an angle
