how do u test RCA's

i had a problem where, when i move the rca (sub-out) on the HU end the sub made noises even when the volume is on zero

so used a another set of rcas and the problem seem to stop, the RCA ran out side the car

i wanted to test if it was the ACTUAL rca was the problem or where i ran them though the car was the cause, so i plug the suspect rca into the front output on HU also plug them in the splits amp

NOW there is engine noise which i also had before the HU was repaired (after the repairs there was no noise only the sub problem)

does not matter what RCA i use the engine whine is NOW there

my question is it possible for RCA to blow tracks on the HU

also how do i test RCA????????

RCAs are just like run of the mill speaker cable, but they are shielded this iw what the outer circle is connects chasiss of amp and HU together same potential no noise. the centre pin transmits your signal. so to test get multimetre test circle bit one end to other end circle bit. should have very low reading. then do same pin to pin low reading and your sweet.

Here is what i think, if the sub makes noise when volume is mute but you wiggle plug you are getting interferance. the circle bit i mentioned before is not making good contact with HU this is what i would check.

Sounds like you are getting induced intereference from ur rca run. Relocate it somewhere away from power lines/cpu.

WHile ur rewiring it, play music so u can hear the difference. There are a few hotspots for interference in the 3rd gens.

Esp behind the dash.
