Hey All,
I've finally worked up the gumption to start playing around a bit with the magna but before i do, just want to make sure i'm not to going to cop a eye full of passenger side air bag if i start pulling the dash apart to play with it. Is there anything I should keep in mind when I play or is it best to leave this sort of mucking about to a pro?
Cheers

why are you playing with it?
if your car has airbags - best not to tinker with them!

What kind of things are you planning to do? There is a procedure for disarming the airbags but I've got a feeling it's complicated.. (can't find my workshop manual cd at the mo or I'd look it up)
If you're just ripping out the instrument cluster or center console to do some painting or audio work, then don't stress - you're fairly safe in that area.

I want to have a bit of a play with intrument cluster. Would like to change the colour of the bulbs and also have get a bit of a feel for it before I start playing with some new audio gear and mount some cool yet totally unnessescary gadgets on the dash.

There are SRS harnesses in those areas but as long as you're unplugging only what you need to - for example the audio and heat controls in the centre and the instrument panel itself on the driver's side - you shouldn't have any problems.

Cool thanks for that Sarras. So if im just taking the dash off, i shouldnt have to worry about the air bag deploying, just dont muck around with the SRS wiring when i do get in yeah?

okay now you've changed to taking the whole dash off (?) instead of just the instrument cluster (?). If so that's a bit more serious and yes you'd have to follow the SRS precautions. But really, if you're doing this much to the car its really time to get a manual first.
