For $400 go and get a 2.5 inch exhaust from the cat back with a big cannon on the back. The Lukey is useless and gives no noise.

Maybe noise isnt what he's after.
The LR2779 is perfect for someone who wants the performance of a straight through muffler without the ridiculously annoying drone associated with cannons (which are over glorified milo tins with a tip)
It makes no noise at idle...well no more than a stock muffler...and has a very nice note under throttle.
It doesnt attract attention, which is good for people who don't crave it...
Im after what killbill is saying, my old muffler is on its way out (stock) and I thought I want a small % of perfomance but no a loud grumble at idle. I went to the lukey web site and had a listen at the muffler and it sounded good, just need a angle tip aswell. How long does these things usually take to install and anyone recomend a place in perth?
Thanks.

RPW could do it for you no drama's. Not sure of their address tho, go to www.rpw.com.au to find out.
As far as cost is, I got a cat back exhaust with the lukey and tip for $490 about 3 years ago, that was expensive even back then, but they always do a great job first go and the place has a very strong reputation for good work...so it was worth the money in the end.
You could probably get it done for about 200 bucks muffler alone.
$490 is ok, just need to save up a tiny bit extra.

Just buy the LR2779, I paid $127 for the resonator from Bursons(parts shop like repco) went to a exhaust shop who installed it inplace of the rear muffler, inlcuding a 3" chrome dump tip it cost me $60 to get installed.
Once worn in a bit it made a noticable difference in performance, mainly a cleaner smoother pwr band, revved easier too. It also made a difference on my fuel economy Ive gone from about 450-500 on a tank to easily 550-600(highway).
People say it doesnt change the sound, I reckon thats crap, its just not very loud(compared to a canon). You can definately hear it under load and at idle mine has a light but noticable deep lumpy note(I think my tip helps as it is angled at the ground and resonates a bit more).
Dont bother replacing the pipe from cat as its already a 2.5" mandrel system which is very effective(save the rest towards a pair of extractors).
Hope this helps, Luke.

Ive put the TJ sports muffler (single tip) on my KH, im sick of the noise.... it hums along at 2000rpm not too loudly but im over it. is the lukey, or anything else for that matter quieter but with better performance than the stock KH (dual tip). I dont want to lose the performance gain.

Is the LR2279 any noiser then the Sports/VRX/Ralliart mufflers?

It's a bit louder, but still no drone. It's not worth swapping them over if you already have a VRX muffler
It's funny that people mention the VRX muffler drone, as that was one of the things they addressed with the LR2779.

I have experienced drone with my LR2779, but that was with 5 people in the car cruising down the freeway. If it's just 1 or 2 people, no drone.
I'd advise against the cannon. It's like a very loud fart, and the drone when cruising down the freeway is enough to drive me nuts. Invest in a nice sound system if you decide to go with a cannon.
There're other alternatives that sound nicer and louder too, like xforce, magnaflow and remus but they do cost a fair bit more.

If you want to go for a cannon, just make sure you get a good quality brand name one, and keep a resonator on it and itll be fine. But im very happy with my LR2779 in my car, not much louder put gives a very nice note when crusing, which is what most people are after. It cost me 170bucks installed with chrome dump tip from metthams in midland, good blokes would recommend them. just give them a call as youd have to book it in as always.

i got a quote for my TR at Mindarie Custom Exhausts for about $380 w/o a tip. That was for 2 1/4" piping from the cat and the Lukey muffler. Didnt go with it coz i realised who wants a decent sounding exhaust on a GLX that takes about 15 sec to goto 100km/h :S i didnt find it worth it
This was from "RPW"
"I cannot help with the installation but we have the units in stock and for
sale for $140.00 for the muffler kit"

you could porably get it installed for around that price minus a tip if you ask around

Interesting, sorry mate, maybe they dont do exhaust installs?
Anyway, you'll find a place no drama's :D
I will get it when the Ed Department pays my gf for using my car (ahhh... love not paying for "upgrades". I will get a dump tip aswell.
What I would love is to get it lowered, para's and a lukey. Wont lower it untill i move out to a place that doesnt have a 45 degree driveway for me to park on.

Even though I had my 3" system done through RPW (along with other work at the same time), they subcontracted the actual fitting work to Ian Diffen's TTF in Osborne Park.
TTF has been good by not charging to make minor adjustments since then eg bit of gas-axing of towbar support when I fitted the RPW race extractors, and also twisting the pipe after fitting the MIVEC 'cos it came forward about 2 cms, and was knocking on the car body. Don't take a gas axe to my car underbody!

had the lukey AL4-5597 installed last week for $210 all up which i believe is the bolt-on version of the lr2779.
they wanted $170 for the lr2779 only fitted but they couldnt get them in stock
i love it.. just the right amount of rumble and the performance increase is very noticeable. highly recommended!!
"We would recommend a cat back 2.5 inch sports exhaust system with a
straight through sports muffler for $280 supplied and fitted. This
system will allow the optimal flow of gases from the engine and
subsequently improve the overall performance of your car. For an extra
$100 you can add a stainless steel cannon style muffler to the end of
the system to give your car a definitive look and sound.
If you want more power you can't go past a set of pacemaker extractors.
These extractors will not only improve the power and performance of your
car, they also have the potential to improve your fuel economy under
normal driving conditions. These extractors will be $850 fitted.
Have you considered adding a hi flow cat converter? A hi flow cat
converter has a greater surface area than regular converters, therefore
reducing the amount of restriction. You would be looking at $300
supplied and fitted."
This is from "mettams mufflers". Just wondering how good is berkley mufflers?
