What is the advantage of fitting an oversized throttle body ie from a different car
say one that is 20-30mm larger then stock
will there be a fueling problem?
the only thing i can think of is the idle speed?
would i notice a performance gain?
better throttle response
more ponies to the ground?
more torque?
can the idle speed be modified?
just be4 the butterfly there is a bypass for the air to go down which is for the car when it idles if this is too big could i just close it up make the hole smlaer?
PM Ezy boy, he can bore out your stock TB to give u better throttle response and ive heard it can improve fuel economy. Im going to get him to do mine once i get timing belt done

I can't find 10-20mm in a stock tb. Maybe 3mm. Still sorting out the butterfly seating. Hard to angle cut. Will run a thinner butterfly material and countersunk screws, cut the butterfly shaft in half etc. Will pick up about 14.5% more area.

Gee, 20 - 30mm larger? That's a bit extreme.
Fueling issues would only arrise if you have a problem with injectors, fuel pump or filter. Idle speed probably will be an issue. You might notice a small gain in peak performance. Throttle responce would be increased 10 fold to the point of you wishing you had your old one on there again, and the only increase in ponies or torque as mentioned before would be at peak power.
The problem I'd imagine that you'd experience is that WOT would effectively be at about 25% throttle and that's stupid.

Don't know how it would improve fuel economy.
The key benefit from this modification is the removal of the lip. The lip is there to reduce the abruptness of throttle actuation which is better for most casual drivers. Most people who have done this like the increase in throttle responce. Fat chance it will do anymore than that, maybe an unquantifiable increase in peak power.
one of my mates had it done and says he got better fuel economy, im waiting to see if he right once i get mine done

The flowed units are 3rd gen. The 2nd gen TBs are already straight thru with a tapered entrance to the BF. Oversizing may not necessarily increase fuel economy. On an auto more likely.
well ian mate as soon as i get timing belt done, ill be heading over your way to get it done, might also check out options on exauhsts also

Are you keen for a BBQ and chat day at the Shop. Will be on a Sunday arvo to be advised. Check the CLUB pages.
Free flowing exhaust WILL improve fuel economy. Fact. Unless you drive it like it's stolen

Sorry - shouldn't even joke about that, it's terrible what happened today.
:bowrofl: funny but harsh, cant belive there was one in maitland, but must admitt that corner is shocking, when i used to go to maitland high and walking home to metford, you had to like stand on the road to see if any cars coming. Hear they got the car at henny penny.
