how much greif is needed to trop a TR 2.6+ EFI into my TP EFI, went to get a price on a TR head at the local wreckers and for some reason the only makes he wrecks are TM-TP and thats it as i was going to go the higher compression head on my TP, anyone know what sort of price to pay for a good TR head

ecu would need changing, so might the loom and stuff if u want to run all the tr stuff,

Don't do it the lack of ability to adjust the timing chain in the TR motors eventually kills them. Most re-conditioners are retro-fitting timing chain adjusters onto the the TR motors. Why not see if you can find a TP with EFI?

ok then motor out the tr head gives higher compression?

the only difference between the gen1 astron and the gen2 astrons is the head... higher compression (the ts had different pistons i believe...)

you'll have no troubles with a TR motor in your TP... i have a TR motor in my TM... i've kept mine carby though but the head is a EFI head...

i dont think there was much difference with the fuel injection/ecu from the TP to the TR...

i personally dont think it'll be worth taking the EFI from a TR and putting it into the TP for power gains... the TP's efi will do fine, no matter what... and the different in compression will not even affect the ECU anyways...

if you are looking to replace your TP motor cos it's had it's life, then sure, go for the TR motor... but it's probably not worth the effort to rip the EFI from the TR... just use your TP's ecu + loom

if you want higher compression, you could always take the head to get machined... take of a few thou... too much, you'll have to run it all the time off premium or even retard the timing a bit... astrons ping easy...

my 2.2 cents inc gst

Hi, I have a tp & ts head, I can't see any difference in them apart from the cam & roller rockers, could be the pistons are different

I wouldnt go to the bother of putting the TR EFI in your TP. The system in the TP works just as well and seems to be a little less of a hassle (ISCs on TRs seem to be ****house).

@dennystone
I think you will find that the combustion chambers in a TR/S head are smaller. Remember though - TR/S carby were the same as the TM-P, the EFI models are the only different ones.

theres a little difference as the tr/ts ecus have a better diagonstics system and are overall better then the ****ty gen1 ecus, and the plenum chambers differents and so is the throttal body and the rest of the intake
