heyas, my alternator just died so im up for a new one, i put this one in only a few years ago so i think i might want to upgrade if thats possible, i have a decent sound system so im drawing a fair bit from it and it will only increase in times to come, so my question is - can i use an alternater from a different car (ie bigger car) to accomodate my useage

your best bet it to find one from an TN/TP elite... they had the largest alternators out of the gen1's... you need to get the bits and pieces from upullit or something (like the various brackets, etc) to make it fit... i found that out when it tried to put an elite 85amp alternator in my TM (which normally has a 65amp alternator)...

btw, i think your existing TN alternator might actually have the same mounting as a elite alternator... i just know that the 65amp alternator is smaller and has a smaller mount, etc

this is in a tn elante, i tried pulling one out of my tm but the connecter is different, i replaced the one in there from u pull it just out of another tn but i find it stupid that the tm-tn are different, anyways, if i cant get something bigger for it i will just go get another one from u pull it. cheers anyways
