ok this is what i have for my system i am pretty sure i am gonna go stealth with splits and 6x9's if this will work, but i need ideas for mounting my sub and amps
Eclipse CD5444
Eclipse EA3422 x2
Eclipse SW6123.4
Eclipse SP8992 6x9's
Eclipse SC8264 6.5 splits
heres my basic idea
i have a cargo blind so the amp and sub setup doesnt neccessarily (spelling?) have to be stealth
the place i bought the gear from has quoted around 800 for installation as i am building the box etc is this a fair price or should i shop around
wtf.. was this not posted the other day? or is this another similar one
800 bucks...where are you getting it installed? Installation is a very expensive, especially if you want it done properly, and if you want your system to last. Personally, if you're not disabled or don't have any arms, you should definately do it yourself. You will find it a lot more exciting and rewarding.
Is cabling, terminals, fuses and other bits and pieces factored into the isntallation as well?
Since you're going for stealth, then I guess a fibreglass install with glass, motorized panels and LEDs isn't exactly what you're going for lol Also, seeing as though you've gotten all this eclipse gear, you probably won't want to build a ported box for your subs.
Another idea I had in mind was to face your subs vertically upwards, and making a grill to cover them, instead of facing them into the back seats..dunno, maybe you'll like how they sound like that. As for your amps...I've had bad experiences with mounting them on the back of sub boxes..so yeh, you've been warned :P
800 bucks for installation seems pretty good if cabling, terminals, and all the stuff u need is included, especially since you're building your own box.

would install myself if i knew what i was doing in terms of wiring....... building box is easy mdf is free

well, thats what we're here for...helping u do the wiring :bowrofl: where in QLD r u anyway?
damnit, I want free MDF too!! I've spent too much on mdf

would this size box do for sub
note these are interior dimensions
i can only change length from 920mm (952) to overall 1130mm

The Box you have designed seems good enough, but I am not a mathematical person who can calculate internal Volume...
The way I used to find out how many litres my enclosures were was to use those little Beans inside a Bean bag, fill a 1 litre container with them and see how many it took to fill the enclosure..
Then had the jooyous task of sucking them up the vacuum...
Just make sure you allow enough room behiind the sub to allow for Voice coil breathing.. If you sub has a mounting depths of 15 cm , allow the depth of the box to be at least 5 cm more so overall depth is about 20cm.. most people when building there first box fail to allow for mounting depth..
hehehe magnat, been away from school for too long eh?
from ur diagram, i think your internal volume would end up to be around 2.06cuft....that'll change a little bit if you mount your sub with the magnet/basket inside.
I'm pretty sure that sub is most suited for a sealed box application.(low EBP value?)
download WINISD and have a play with it. WINISD doesn't exist for Mac OSX, so I can't use it.

im pretty sure it will be ok.

damn dude, its the easiest thing in the world to calculate the volume of a box, you simply measure the thing up and work out the volume by depth * height * width for squares or rectangles and if you have an angles box you work out that bit separatly by 1/2(depth * height * width)
it just makes common sense to me, best to use this method next time slightly more accurate than your method, but hey woteva works for ya.
im glueing up my sub box this weeknd and sealing it properly and my boot install will be finished with a bit more soldering so stay tuned
cheers

LMAO U SERIOUSLY DID THAT OMFG :noway: ahahaha u could of just measured the frigen thing, as 97_verada said ahahaha cant get over that you actually filled the thing up with beans.
sealed boxes are very forgiving in terms of volume....
not like ported boxes

DEFINATLY DO NOT MOUNT YOU AMP ON YOUR SUB BOX OR ANY OTHER PART OF MDF BOOT INSTALL THAT IS FIRMLY SECURED TO THE BOX.
Amps are electronics = fragile solder joints and connections. The vibrations through the MDF will cause dry/cracked joints and warranty will not cover you.
Other than that, yeah play with winisd. I tryed it the other day and its very easy to use.
Good luck and dont forget pics of the install!!
Cheers

Seriously , I am a mathematical DumbA$$... I can do literally nothing mathematical at all.. I failed Maths , Excelled at IT, Excelled at English and Science but plain straight Boring Old Mathes I am Dumb..
So I go with Practical systemic ways of solving a problem avoiding all mathes....

ok its me again will be building the box very soon and was not sure what sort of internal bracing is required or would be good if any at all, this will be my first attempt so be specific
thanks

come on guys some of you must have built boxes before advice plz on interior bracing for the one shown
cut out some left over bits into triangles. make sure its a right-angle triangle, and remember to glue and mdf them onto the edges.

Glue and screw. and brace with watever bits of wood u have lying around
subtract this from the internal volume. If you dont know what exact size to make, make it bigger, it is easier to reduce the volume by filling the box than to increase it.
