Howdy all, just stumbled across this forum lastnight and after looking through a lot of posts would like to ask some Q's....

I've got a 95 Ts 4cyl manual in good nick with lowk's, have done a CAI into the std airbox (battery moved to the boot) and have a straight through rear muffler.

Like everyone i'd like to get some more power out of it, what (from ppls experience) is the best way to go? Exhaust looks to me like it wouldn't gain enough to justify the expense, so im thinking engine management changes.

Also the car recently fried its std ecu (bodgy jump starting) and is running on a TR auto ecu, out of my old car. Seeing as it runs like a dog a proper replacement will need to be purchased, does this open up any oportunities?

Probably dont want to spend over a grand, and only then on something that a significant impact, these cars aren't worth that much now :(

Cheers

Dave :D

Not much use going to an aftermarket ecu until you've done some porting and polishing, cams, extractors and Rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Then you'll get the full benefit of an aftermarket ECU

Hmmmmm

Well, What cams/extractors etc are available for these 2.6 L engines, and where from? What, in peoples experience, gives the most 'bang for the buck'?

Any info much appreciated!

Extractors are available from www.rpw.com.au
I think they're also available from Pacemaker www.pacemaker.com.au ?

Muffler change and extractors will be the best bang for buck mods initially.

Then a K&N pod connected to cold air induction would be the next.

Or if you wanna skip all that and go wild I think TButcher still has a 2.6l Turbo motor for sale ;)

Well i got myself a 2nd hand wolf 3D... i'm going to wire it in to control fuel and ignition, leave the factory ECU for idle control, aircon etc etc

I'll let everyone know how it goes

Ooeeerr :D

Very interested to hear how it goes!
Also if you don't mind, how much did it set you back?

Well the one i got was off a mate for 100 bucks, but i need to buy a new loom and some sensors, so that will bring it up to about 300

A brand new one (the one I got is about 6 yrs old) is only 1100, with a hand controler, loom sensors etc... chaeper that a emanage, and its a stand alone ECU! they might not be the best in the business but for a piggyback i don't see how you could go wrong

it is suprisingly cheap to get some extra donkey's out of the old astron. There must be a million astrons in garage's and wreckers australia wide seeing they started their lives in sigma's.
With an aftermarket ecu it opens the opportuntiy to stuff around with some big head work. You can go a stage 2 head and cam kit seeing u have a ecu 2 take it but only after exhaust is done. Look at www.rpw.com.au at stage 2 rebuilds. you can get some high revs and power out of that engine, but $$$ do help
