hi everyone, time for new tyres on the TR, it was a special sports edition thus it came with 15"s instead of 14"s, now im aiming to spend around $100 give or take a tyre, im looking at a size of around 215/60 (or 65) /R15
has anyone here got some recommendations for a good tyre around that size / price? any info like make, model and price of tyre will be helpful
cheers

I've got Bridgestone RE92's on my car. The tires grip fairly well, they last long, and i only paid $99 per tire :)
By the way, i forgot to mention that they're 205/65 R15

the standard tyres for your car should be 205/65-15, bridgestone RE92 aren't to bad for the $$$ and were standard on a few new aussie cars. Shop around and you might get them for $85 a tyre or less.

I've got Simex SM8000 225/60 R15's and I like them, they seem to wear slowly, provide good grip and they were only $140 ea. I will buy them again.

Classic 65's are an australian made RE92 copy, not a bad tyre, cheap as chips.
Can't remember price but they were about 20 bucks cheaper a tyre than RE92's at the time I got them.
I use P6000's now though.

Think about going second hand if ur gonna get new wheels next year... Save a penny, and it's not hard to find some with a fair bit of tread on them.

yeah i know what you mean but my mums paying for em atm so eh, her money, besides im getting the suspension upgraded later this year also so i want some decent tyres for the time being....but i have looked into 2nd hand tyres a little, havent found any good ones......YET.....but might be a few weeks until the new tyres come along so im gonna look for a fair while butim looking for something wider then standard and of a wet-wheather nature................a while back we had (dunlop i think) W10's, looked so freaken mean on the magna and was an awesome tyre, might look into that also, but thats for the suggestions ill look into all avenues

You are using Pirelli P6000? I think they are very expensive tyres arent they? Correct me if I'm wrong.. but those tyres are generally used for very heavy cars like the Mercedes S class and I heard from somewhere that it might cause uneccessary noise on smaller/lighter cars. Is that true?

dont know about that, but we might be getting 215/60/R15's (falken), fitted, balanced, and all wheels aligned, for around $460....honestly id just rather buy those 18"s that are for sale in the FS section, but my mums after "new" tyres....god damn it><

why dont you get a job then and earn your own money?
yer thanks for that....
i already have 2 part time jobs and work nearly all week
i earn my bit, but im saving for my car and my 18's
as of now its still my mums car, so even if i did buy the 18"s in the FS thread, it would be to no use cause she drives it more.
and like i said she wants "new" tyres
i wouldnt mind those 18"s WHEN ITS MY CAR.

i dont know about the re92's, but i know the rear tyres of our car have balded inside and out, and front tyres have balded on the inside, so there gonna align wheels aswell. i was noticing when the car goes about 70km/h it shakes to the sh|thouse....was thinking it was because of tyres...hopefully is
also another quick question
my mum said on my 18th birthday (15 months away), i can buy her car (93 TR V6 color coded 205000K atm) for $2000
do you reckon it would be worth buying THIS MODEL etc for that price in 15 months?
considering the K's its done?
its been regulary serviced but i reckon a new motor by then would be the go, my mum said its insured for $5.3K atm but i reckon in 15 months (after the 380 comes out and all) it would of depreciated alot
should i still buy this car ?
or by that time look for a better 2nd gen with lower K's?
(i only want a 2nd gen unless i can get a jet black TL/TW with massive chrome wheels for like 6K)
this is so confising me as i dun know what to do
and i thought it was a bit tight seeing as it will be my 18th, and im buying the car off my mum (im the only son)...but meh
thoughts :blah:
well my dads done over 30,000kms on re92's in his previous commodores :P
anyhow, for that many kms, its not too bad a price... but if u find a TL magna sellin that cheap, id buy one hands down, im sure even wen the 380 comes out the TL models will be around 11g or a bit more
im hoping the KJ verada GTV gets dirt cheap wen the 380 comes out so i can buy one :D

RE92 are not that great. I've got them on my 3rd gen and I want to get rid of them asap. If you're looking for a cheap tyre, look into Toyo's, they're much better then the bottom of the line Bridgestones.
