when I start the car especially on cold mornings the steering on a full lock will make a pretty loud screeching, screaming noise. does this mean the power steering is on it's way out?
Thanks

Tighten up your power steering belt

The car had a service probably around 300km ago, they changed all the belts, but it was still making the noise with the old ones. I'll check it out though
Thanks

You shouldn't have power steering at full lock anyway. ;)

Killbilly has a good point, belts do tend to stretch a bit when they are new as well

yeh i know i shouldn't but if i don't it'll take me like a 4-point turn just to get out of my drive-way
but the little magna is on it's way out soon....it's giving me too much trouble :(

You can get max steering without it on full lock.
Holding it on full lock doesnt move the wheels anymore than if you had it JUST off full lock.
That's what you're supposed to do.
yeh i gotta hate the CLUNK sound of people locking their steering wheels reverse parking or something. Especially when their car isnt moving and theyre just turn-turn-turning on the wheel... heh
