Hello,
was on my way home to my folks which is a 2hour drive, had the music cranked and then i smell a bit of burning plastic, my tweeter goes all crackley...turn it off so;
just wondering if it'll be blown or what the go is as i liked having the tweeter (driver side), sounded so much better...
seemed to cook where the wire joins the actual speaker...can i fix??

What splits?
Decent replacements will set u back $100, may be better to upgrade.

kenwood's one of their best cheap stuff worth a few of hundred bucks (back in the day), they went pretty good especially when considering they were running of a 40watt tape deck and cd player...
would i have to go through anyone in particular to purchase a replacement tweeter or do i have to buy 2 tweeters, this is gay

You will have to buy a set if they still stock them at all.
Otherwise u can buy some generic tweeters, or another higher end set.

Kenwood strikes again !
Consider replacing the Kenwoods with Pioneer or Clarion. I am using a Clarion Tweeter with my front splits and they are clear without being too bright.. At last Check a Set of Clarion Splits were in the Low $150.... I would go audition a few and see if you do not like them better..
I have seen many Kenwood Tweeters burn out.... all the People I have spoken to have suffered similiar fates and they have now upgraded to either Clarion, JVC or Pioneer...
