View Full Version : That little plug in TL's

Having taken my TL for a servicing to Mitsubishi I have noticed that there is a small plug underneath the steering wheel of the car which Mitsubishi plugs their computer in and gets a massive layout of everything functioning on the car. Wiring etc is shown, and where / if there are any faults/imperfections, are pinpointed immediately on their computer.

I was just wondering, If we could somehow manage to pick up a way of linking a laptop to this port, we could have schematic diagrams of our car to use for ourselves. There's a little problem though, where we going to get the software? :doubt:

Dunno, just a stupid idea that came to me whilst thinking of Fast and the Furious :D

YEP that is the link for the diagnostics. You can short circuit a pin and it will give you a readout on the dash as to what is wrong. I am trying to get a hold of the software but my mate that works for mitsi is off in Europe so I’ll have to wait and c. If you download the manual for the TL I’ll have to find the link. It says it all there really well about all the features etc.

I Don't Think So The Memory Is Not A Flash One I Don't Think. You Can Change The Parameters For The Sensory Offsets But Not A Complaet Flash. But I Will Verify So Don't Quote Me.

still sounds interesting though :)
if it can be changed enough so that i wont need a different computer for the turbs that would save me lots

A Stock Computer Will Not Have Anough Offset For The Sensors And Injectors. All Though If We Can Change The Timing And Injector Duty We Can Use A Turbo. Things Like Map Sensors Ect Should Be Able To Be Off Set To Suit Boost.

Humm Interesting I Will Have To See What We Can Do, I Know My Old Skyline Had Quite A Lot Of Play That Could Be Done To It. But That Was N/a Not Turbo, I Suspect We Could Not Be Able To Change The Stock Maps To Suit Turbo, We Would Need More Fuel Ect.

Interesting

that connector is the diagnostics port, and unless you have a MUT-II (and above), you cannot change any of the computer settings. However the port can be used for reading out data.

Firstly, The mentioned procedure of shorting out the ground pin will only provide any logged codes in the computer.

Secondly, you sure can get real time data from that port.

Thirdly, the connector looks like an OBDII connector, well it is, but the electrical interface is not OBDII (exception of export versions).

Fourthly, it is most likely using the ALDL interface.

I've been doing a research on these things for a while, however havn't had any time to play around with it yet.

Well hurry up and figure it all out, LOL.

Well I guess my guess was close I wasn't sure weather you could offset the sensors enough to be able to use a turbo set-up. Anyway it would be nice to do some real-time logging ect.
