is it possible to put TJ rear lights on a TE. as the TJ ones look 1,000,000 times better

I think that you can do it if you change the boot as well.

they will fit if you use the te boot...but they will over hang where the crease is along the middle of the boot. Best fit is to use the tj boot as well, but they will fit otherwise...just look a little out of place.

thanks heaps yeh its gonna be easy finding a white boot from a TJ and the lights. as my TE is white...was an ex-leasing companys vechile ( FFS cant figure out how to spell). got it for $5000 all up with 148,000km on it and no sign on anything wrong had it for 3 days, so far lol. how much would i be looking at if i wanted to get these parts. is it a worthwhile conversion

if you buy from mitsubishi it will cost you a arm and a leg and most probable the other arm as well. best bet is to go to a wreckers and see if they have one, or have a look in the paper to see if anyone is wrecking a (white) TJ

Just a word of advice mate, Mitsubishi changed there white colour in Oct99.
It was WP which = sarejevo white/paris white it was changed to WG which = mawson white.

Why do car companies do that though? there is bugger all difference between the 2 whites, its only noticeable putting them up against each other.

and regarding costs, it wouldnt be too hard finding a boot from a wrecker, $150 or so. Then that would have to be sanded and painted so another $150-200 i would guess.
Tail lights u can get new from ozeparts.com for $250 or so? once again you would probably be able to pick them up cheaper at wreckers

Anyway, the lights should fit fine however they don't line up nicely with the boot.

a few members in qld group hav been into this route. tj lights te-th bootlid 10 mm gap to the crease now tj bootlid te-th lights 10mm gap hole like this:

i think you can get a boot from 250??? dont quote me on that!! and the lights i think are 200 or around about new again dont quote me on that! and again im not sure on this but the bonnet you can get for 350?? i looked in to it a couple weeks ago if you need any help on where to get em let us know!

i do knwo the TH tail lights are a direct fit on a TF thou lol not that that is much help

for the guys who have swaped te/f/h boot lid for a tj was it a straight swap or did things like boot lock and latch have to be changed ive been told they have to by a mitsu dealer but there only going by part numbers and we all know most dealers dont know jack anyway.

well it was ages ago but as far as I can remember latch/lock & lifters are the same...one person who would know for sure is Greg (i think that's his name) & the panel shop @ eastside mitsubishi..he did my TF -TJ conversion... :cool:

u should get in touch with snu2 he did the conversion himself so he would know all of it

So I take it that if u swap the boot lid there be a problem in getting a chrome boot garnish since its a TJ? I am seeing advantages and disadvantages of doing so I guess. I leave it IMO, is better for the next buyer. Again its personal peference, I just felt that they should have made these lights for the TE-TH range, very disappointed.
