Hi all, i am looking into getting a 12" Sub for my TL, i was leaning towards the Alpine Type r 12" Sub just because its alpine and its red to match my TL.
Ok I know that sounds lame but surely its a good sub. Other brands that my audio shop deals in are eclipse polk audio pioneer jvc and rockford fosgate. and my budget in $350 and i am really after a 12"?
What are people sugestions???

alpine type rs are a good sub and yeah are under rated they handle alot more power then its supose too. but for the price you can get alot more better subs. depends what sort of sub and the way you wanna use it aye. if you have an idea of what brand or even the way you tend to use such as thrash it at sound offs and **** then alot of ppl can help you on here aye.

My Intentions are purely for SQ reasons, i mainly listen to rock, heavy, and a bit of top 40 pop. I am not after a big heavy bass sound, more of a tight sound.

If you are looking for tight bass you'll want a smaller sub as the bigger you go the longer the sound takes to travel the length of the cone, seems strange if you like rock surely you wouldn't want tight bass, it's all about distortion and the bigger sub is justified for such a setup, personally i'd just get the best 6x9's i can afford and drive them harder out of a amp, just check your RMS and Freq response curves for the speakers and let them rip. the capacity of the Magna's boot makes a really good 6x9 crank!!

a Rockford fosgate 12 incher will give you that Classic Sound for Rock in a sealed enclosure...
just make sure you get an amp that can give it some hell!!!

hey man the alpine type r will be great for it too aye. just chuck it in a sealed box and give it enough power at least 500wrms and that way instead of heavy bass it will be hard bard more responsive to the music. alpines more of an all around sound. then as you know most of the american brands are mostly for heavy bass low freuqencey for all hip hop rap rnb such as kickers.

Hey
Type R's are good subs, iv got 10"x2 in my boot.
The key to buying Alpine is looking for the best price and slashing the price down. Alpines are grossly overpriced.
good luck
Like I always say; audition as many subs as you can. When customers come down here we give them the choice of about ten to twenty cars to listen to (one of which is Alpine equipped) and while some do pick the Alpine, here are some of the subwoofers people usually put before Alpine:

Looks like you have just gotten the exact same system as i got beginning of the year. A good system too i must say.
Though ur amp might be newer then mine.
And how much did it cost you all up.

Could you not do this task yourself and save money ??

i could but i would only save 120 bucks. According to the invoice breakdown, thats all i am being charged for labour. Plus i get extended warranty cause they are installing it.
