Just bought a 92 TR 4cyl Magna as a run-about while I'm building my show car.
So a bit of a newby question here.

My cam cover seems to be the cause of my oil leaks, and on closer inspection I can'y find any bolts that hold the cam cover down on the head. The gasket is filled with some gasket silastic but is still leaking.

So what holds the cover down or is it just the sealastic that does?

Thinking back to the days of my old 2.6 TS I think there were just two botls at the top of the cam cover that botled the cam (rocker) cover down, someone correct me if im wrong...

AussieMagna's right only two bolt but their is a o-ring under each bolt n washer but if you get a tappet cover gasket kit they should come with it, Not sure of price

I'm going for better o-rings when I replace mine

Also, I've noticed that the oil cap leaks too, is this a common thing? should I get a new cap or can I buy a replacement gasket for this aswell.

The rocker cover it generally only held on with very mildly no need for excessive bolting / studding the gasket should do the work (not in your case if it needs replacing).

Its a very simple job, remove the two bolts, tap the rocer cover (cam cover) midly with a rubber mallet it pop it off (gently please people), remove the old gasket and any traces or silicone gasket sealant, install the new gasket with new sealant and you will be fine.

The rocker cover gasket shouldn't cost you anymore than $30 from mitsu. As for the 0 rings under the rocker cover bolts, from memory they are very large so fresh silicone gasket sealant should do the job nicely :D

Its a very easy job and anyone can do it, its a great place to start to build condifence working on cars :D

Note Do Not Over Tighten As Rocker Cover Will Crack And Dont Use Silicone All The Way Around Cover Only Around The Rubber Half Moon And The Rear Near Water Pump Pully Use Genuine Gasket As Repco Or Acl Gaskets Leak
