agreed..
If you wanna check it out yourself though, there's a howto on checking engine fault codes on the FAQ (http://www.wermspowke.net/wiki/index.php/Engine#How_can_I_read_a_fault_code_from_the_ECU_wi thout_a_MUT-II.3F).

emission control problem
Not necessarily. The engine warning ligh will illuminate to indicate the ECU has recorded a fault event - which could be anything. For example I had a broken vacuum hose going to my TCL control valve, and it would light up the engine light and the TCL OFF light together. But bottom line, get it to a Mitsu service centre as the others have said.

ok thanks for the replies,
the engine runs smooth as , normal power, normal oil temp etc. so hopefully it isn't something too serious
but i will definetly try to book it in today ! , otherwise monday ,...
later
actually, has anyone else experienced this after they have put their pod filter down near the front bumper? i think it must be my temp sensor or air flow sensor being blocked or somthing, as that red air filter oil i put on it seems to have seeped through the air filter onto parts of the honeycombe section.

Over-oiling can confuse or kill MAF sensors.
I'd suggest checking the fault codes yourself as per the link i posted.. it may well be MAF related.
If your ECU is getting bad signals from the MAF it'll fall back to using the TPS for its load setting, so your car will still drive ok, but it's worth checking it out anyway.

Yeh, I consistently have the orange engine light coming on. Started after swapping over engines. Before that, with CAI etc, not a problem.
I agree that it is a fault code registered by ECU. My aftermarket ECU is managing the engine stuff, and the Mitsi original ECU manages the rest. The engine warning light is linked to the Mitsi ECU, and I think it is not getting some feedback from engine operation and therefore assuming a fault.
The light comes on when the car is warmed up. Don't have an answer, though!

we had 6 or 7 magnas at work have the enginelight come on and 95% it was the emission control failing to read a sensior. nothing alarming they said but cause we r a rental car company, we have to have our car in 100% condition for rent so we get them fix asap, im not making sense so i will go..

if u changed your engine and forgot to connect a sensor (say for example throttle position sensor) Your ECU will log a CMDTC ( continuous memory diagnostic trouble code ). This will cause the engine light to come on. Even if you reconnect that sensor straight away the fault of the throttle positioning sensor will be fixed the code will forever stay in the ECU until you take it to a dealership that will plug into your ECU and clear the code. So you may not have a fault but the memory of the fault in your ECU. Hope this makes sense
