If the pioneer speakers are TS-D161S 16cm ones (6") then I must say the Pionners (top of the range in Pioneer)

Pioneeer TSa seem to be the ones you are aiming for, they will sound better then Kenwood but for Mounting Ability go the Boss Splits if you have to,, see if you cannot Bargain with them for a Set of Jensen Splits...6 inch Splits..
Better then the Boss, but not as good as the Pioneers...

Try and Haggle for a Set of JBL 6 inch Speakers if you are going to Strathfield..

Have you got a sub? 6"s produce barely any bass. If you dont have a sub and dont intend on getting one ever, 6x9's.
If you are definately 6" for trebble and all the bass from the sub.
6x9's and a Sub not as good of a sound. Too much bass and not enough trebble.
IMO
12" Dual Coil Sub - to keep up with techno and still be able to hold bass from RnB.
4" in the front, 6" at the back.
And an Amp ofcourse.
Easiest and best setup without costing you your left nut.

Go and get a Set of Splits...
Just see if you cannot do better then Boss... JBL 2-ways will do the Job nicely for front stage..
Guys, I've said it time and time again; do NOT buy speakers in a hurry and do NOT buy speakers because they're on sale.
Audition and research as many different brands as possible because there are speakers around which sound much better than some of the ones listed above even though they share the same price bracket. For example, check out:

Phoenix Gold ZR6.5

Ok guys ended buying some Pioneer TS-A1671S 220w max 6" 3-way speakers, was deciding between these and a pair of kenwoods but the guy said that this was much higher quality speaker, ended up getting it for $99.
