View Full Version : Underbonnet voltage drain
I've got something small drawing current under the bonnet. It's pretty small, but is draining the battery after around 24 hours.
It's not the ICE, as the headunit is sitting next to me. I don't think it's a light. The bootlight has been disconnected.

I remember the previous owner of my TM saying that they had to put sticky tape/wood (forget which) on some part of the brake pedel as it would leave the brake lights on and drain the battery

Pull out random fuses to narrow it down perhaps?
Did. It's the trailer plug. I've disconnected the battery until I can fix it. (Corrosion)

Hey! I only ended up getting trucked 18km. I got dead hauled 48km, though. Usually when it failed, it was limped home...

I remember when i had my VB. It broke down on me and my sister gave me a tow with her auto 1st gen.
Needless to say, the box blew  I felt like an asshole.

Hey,
I have had this with my Elante, the problem was a faulty alternator. Best way to check that theory is to just unplug it and see if the battery stays charged whist the car is off. If it does then it is probably screwed.
I was losing about 5A, which would send the battery flat overnight.

Magnas tow alright, I have had a car trailer + tarago behind my old wagon. An EB Falcon behind the Elante.
No problems what-so-ever :)

Not compatable with the Magnas, but yes.
They've used it everywhere.

maybe its the HEGO sensor (heated exhaust gas oxygen sensor, a component of the electronic fuel injection system.)
It's a carby car. The problem was sorted out, corrosion on the 7-pin trailer plug.
