Ok been looking for splits for the TF.

Car has currently got on the front doors ...
Drivers door pioneer splits (woofer in door and tweeter near mirror pod)
Passenger door has stock speaker.

The splits sound heaps better so i am gonna get some.

So my question is (to magnat or those in the know).
What is better?

Splits which use a crossover network (such as http://www.doranproaudio.com.au/products/detail.asp?prodID=923
Splits which use an inline crossover network just connect cables from woofer to tweeter and go http://www.doranproaudio.com.au/products/detail.asp?prodID=534

And with the external crossover ones i guess they will have to be powered via an amp ? Is that true?

What ones sound better or are better. Looking to pay $200 max a pair. Suggestions plz

External ones don't need to be powered by the amp, but it's preferable for all speakers to be powered by an amp.

External ones generally use better components than inline ones, crossovers that is

Hertz dsk's are around that range, they are inline, so if your looking for something that has a decent tweeter for that price go that.

I have to ask , why does only one door have a Pioneer speaker and not the other ???

Splits do not necessarily need an amp but it is a generally better Idea to have them amped as they will be able to perform better with one behind them..

The TSC1625 ($399) are a great mid spec split and will reward you with a great sound straight off the head unit and will allow you to power them with a Reasonably powerfull amp in the future. The Passive Crossover will allow them to handle more power and provide with a better quality of sound..

The TSC1602 ($199) Will sound good straight of the Headunit and would be the choice if you have a limited Budget and do not want to play your tunes at ear bleeding levels.. These will also be able to be amped in the future but will not be able to handle too much power as the inline crossover will not handle it..

So it comes down to a few things,
1. Your Budget
2. What kind of music you listen to
3. How loud you want your system to play
4. Do you intend to upgrade Your entire system or going to be happy listening to them straight off the head unit..

You may want to look at other Brands such as Hertz, Jaycar Kevlars and Boston If you are seriously wanting to get into car audio.. If you just want to have a better sound then stock and not worry about upgrading the rest the the TSC1602 will be great.

The money you spend will reflect on the Quality you will be listening to..
