hi guys

my TH is slowlely getting lowder in the engine its definatly the tappers when i first got it never made the noise but over the last month to 2 months now the noise is getting more noticable only when its hot it makes the tappers noise its only done 84km im using casrtol magnetic will a thicker oil stop or reduce the sound if it does what oil should i get

not sure of weight but was penzoil semi synthetic i think it was 15-30w thats the oil im using in my TJ at the moment and im using castrol magnetic in my TH not sure of the weight of that either the sound is alot louder in my TH than my TJ. But the same sound is in my TJ but not as loud any suggestions.

do a search of the forums and find out what oil ppl have used and recommend :)

I got the same problem, no matter when I change my oil it's still there. I was told by a mechanic that early 3.5's that reach 100000ks that have been driven hard tappets start to make noise. I does'nt effect anything but just gets annoying.

need some wyns professional engine oil flush will sort the lifter noise out for aprox $17 a bottle = oil and filter or if dosent work the lifters will need replacing :thumbsup:

I had the same problem on my TH sports while i was using magna-tec oil.. i read on here others having the same issue.
I now use castrol GTX and just change it regularly (every 7000k's) - she purrs like a kitten, and roars like a cougar.
