Hi Guys,
I am thinking of upgrading my wheels from 17" to 20" and was wondering if anyone had done this, and if so, had any major problems etc
suggestions and comments are welcome.
Cheers!

looks hot, but the only problem is...
do you want looks, or an annoying noise scraping everytime you turn your wheels...
PM TZABoy and ask him how his are going... he did it recently...
i believe the word Bain used was a "Poofteenth" of rubber between rim & road...
1 pothole=Expensive Lesson... :doubt:
tzaboy's looks hot,
id rather see them as a shadow chrome rather then bling bling chromes though

get shadow chrome 19s and have some spare cash to do something a lot more worthwhile than going 20s rather than 19s

I am thinking that the extra $7-900 for 20" will be well spent somewhere else.
Thanks :D for all your suggestions, the search begins for 19" shadow crome ........

they are shadow chrome!!!! its just in those picks they look really shiny cause i dont like lots of chrome either.
i had to trim out my flares a bit to make my 20's fit, besides that no drama's at all and my ralliart is 1½ inches lower than standard as well

I notice you live in the ACT, you guys got smooth a$$ roads down there. But if you drive up to Sydney often you would know about our roads, go the 19's which will leave a bit more rubber between the rim and potholes you will encounter and the money you save could be better spent elsewhere especially considering how cheap 19's are now, you'll snare a bargain.

Mate, you should stick some wheel arch flares on yours to take up some of the gap you've got there

After all the rain we have had recently, our roads are all f*ucked up, dont worry, there are plenty of workman having smoko's and fixing them.................in peak hour
19's have the tick at the moment....

20's are too big and look silly. You'll probably have insurance issues come claim time or trying to get insurance in the first place. Typically transport authorities allow a 2 inch increase.

wheel arch flares look like a tacky after thought, stuck on to make it look more aggressive.... IMHO anyway. they dont even meet up with the front bar/side skirt properly!
anyways, to take up some of the gap? that's what the coilovers are for  its goin in on thursday. cant wait...

20's are illegal on any 3rd generation magna.
You can only go up 2" Rim size and 1" width on the largest wheel size on your tyre place card.
Ralliart / VRX's placecards read biggest rim size as 17's so u can go up to 19's legally.
All other 3rd gen magnas are allowed to go up to 18's legally. But its not hard to get an engineering certificate / tyre place card from a VRX or Ralliart for those :)
I reckon TZABOY looked better on 19's, these make the car look like one of those really old school pushbikes with the massive front wheel and the tiny back wheel. But I like them from up close :D

In the ACT you can put whatever size wheels on your car as long as the tyre size remains within 15mm of the OEM tyre rolling diameter, the tyres aren't more than 30% wider than standard, it doesn't change the track of the car by more than X amount(can't remember that one exactly) and that the wheels/tyres don't foul the guards. Make sure U talk to rego first to confirm that though. You could put 20's on the Ralliart with 245/30/20 tyres, your biggest problem will be finding a 20" tyre in that size with a load rating more than 90, let alone 94.
I had 19" x 8.5" wheels on my TS that came with std 14" wheels, that's plus 5" up and 3" wide and that went through rego here several times with no hassles bout the rims. Lucky ACT people in that respect.
Would look sick if you could find 20's to suit properly!!! Best of luck!
BTW: We gotta organise a cruise!

dude!! do you realise how little rubber you would be running (thats if they would fit in the arches), you may as well just be running on bare rims!!

What's wrong with serious guard mods?
Car modifiers could learn a bit about the minitruck style of doing things :D
If it don't fit.. CHOP IT.
As for the 20s.. if you're considering that size you obviously want to make a visual impact.. in which case why stop at 20? 22's should fit with some slight guard modifications :)

Wrong. In NSW at least. The NSW RTA states the overall rolling diameter of the wheel+tyre combination must remain within 15mm of the original. Within that, you can have any size you want. In other words, if you can get an appropriate profile tyre, you're ok.
