Ok, i've recently been replacing all my car audio gear to alpine stuff due to previous unsatisfactory results.

Deck: Alpine 9835
Splits: Type S
Rear: JBL 6x9 (haha)
Internal amp: V12 MRV-F345
Boot: JBL 15"
Boot amp: V12 MRV-T420

My JBL sub has hit its potential with the MRV-420, and I want more bass.

I was looking around ebay.com and saw Alpine Type-X 12" subs going for a price at which i'd buy it. They're a big sub and need like two amps to power it for what it looks like in pictures and what i've read.

Now that you know my situation, here is what I need to know!
1) Will two V12 MRV-T420 amps power one of these 12" type-x subs?
2) Is a custom box needed?
3) Will I be satisfied with this sub and stop wasting money on car audio!

Thanks guys!

I highly recommended a custom box designed specifically for the sub(s) and vehicle type.

well, personally, i'd go for the big mrd1000 or whatever super monoblock alpine has.

the X-type sub is great!

oh, and yes, you will need a custom box.....it will make a helluva difference

OK here is the thing... You have a 15inch sub.. You can't achieve more Bass then a 15 inch can provide unless you get Two of them...

Going to a more high powered, yet smaller coned sub will only get you louder bass, not depth...

I would look at Getting Two 15 inch subs if you are after Bass Depth and Volume.. Buy each sub a Monoblock amp and go that way..

If you are unhappy with a 15 inch sub, you may need to look at the type of enclosure it is in..
Hell I have Two 12 inch subs and I have Bass comming out of my ears.. so much so I have to cut the Volume on the sub output so I dont get an SPL headache.... and my subs are only being powered with around 75W RMS each !!!!!!!! So power isn't everything it is only part of it...

Design, Tuning and Power all play a part in getting the perfect set up..

just on the side i know that although the type x subs are bigger than the type r's etc they need a smaller enclosure, you might gain some boot space
