Yeah it would be a good buy - what govt department is it coming from?

Also, doesn't matter who owned the car previously, fleet or private, its possible for any car to be thrashed. Try and stay away from Police vehicles obviously, the Fire vehicles are the best as they are over-serviced, most of the other departments are fine as well.

Not sure of the department. I thought the price was fairly reasonable.

i have driven goverment cars before and they are often not serviced on as according to their service book, in one case 3000kms over, i would check it that first

But other then that sounds like a good buy, oh and yes most of teh time govt cars are thrashed.

25 year olds in Gov departments don't get Veradas they get Pulsars (if that). The likes of Veradas go to department heads (meaning over 50 year olds) so they get a pretty sedate life. Sounds like a great buy to me - warranty issues of an auction house notwithstanding - that is an auction house price no?

Yeah you should be very safe with a Verada government vehicle. Historically, upper class variants like Veradas, Berlinas, Calais', Fairmonts etc are for the higher up people. They are therefore usually a lot older, wiser and more responsible and have a lot more to lose if they were caught driving recklessly if their company's vehicle. I've spoken to alot of car dealers at auctions and they always say that the upper class variants are a much better buy because they generally haven't been thrashed as much.

That's a fantasic buy mate, well under the redbook price for the kms travelled (so you can't say that redbook significantly undervalues all of its cars!), and in a awesome colour too - black. Basically you bought a brand new car (only 25,900kms) for half it's retail price!

Thanks for the advice guys. Only prob is if I buy from auction I have to get rid of my own, they don't offer trades.

My wagon is an ex Uni of QLD car that was serviced by the local dealers on the knocker. Sure it has slightly higher the average kays, 71,000km about to show, but the only problems is the noisy rear brakes, cheap pads fitted after the uni sold it, and the mis adjusted LH windows, it leaked at the car wash. And considering mine's a 5/03 with the kays it's got and the fact I paid more, this one sounds like a bargin. Gotta love the crap resale on Veradas
