Hey all,
I am considering getting a magnaflow muffler but on thier website it says that they have NO BACK PRESSURE....
I have spoken to a couple of people (not experts mind you) and they say that if you dont have any back pressure ur engine actually will loose power but it is said that it should provide 8kw more, not loose any.
Also they say that it will lower my fuel economy aswell.
Any input on the situation would be appreciated.

I'm sure their 'no back pressure' is just a marketing pitch to say it flows really...really....really....err..good. It's true that no back pressure will rob power/torque. However your standard exhaust will give you more than enough back pressure. When you increase ur exhaust diamater to say, 3 inches, it may flow too well, reducing back pressure and actually robbing power.
Straight through mufflers are more or less the same, be it Magnaflow or whatever. Magnaflow are a good quality muffler. They're good for show and exhaust note, but won't do much more for performance over the majority of other straight through mufflers.
Yes 8kw is what you will most likely get.
Yes it will give you better fuel economy.
A straight through muffler is the first mod for any magna (the original muffler is very restrictive).

you sound like your switched on with this sort of thing but back pressure is a myth. the least amount of back pressure the better......but your right about the size of the pipe, go to big and the exhaust gases won't flow quick enough and you will loose power, mainly down low.
search 'backpressure', i'm sure there's heaps on it :)
