Does anyone know of a (preferably Melbourne) outlet who reconditions engine mounts and can offer them on a changeover basis? E.g. they give me reco mounts and I pay a deposit, which is refunded when I give them my old ones back. This is much easier than paying for brand new mounts ($$$), or buying inserts to press into the old housings (my mechanic doesn't have a press).

How much are the remanufactured ones?

Original parts are only about $70-80 I thought; usually labour is lot more.

(Never bother trying to buy used engine mounts from a junker - worst false economy ever.)

Depending on what model you own, engine mounts for the 3.5L V6 are not cheap at all.

I was in the spare parts industry for over 5 years and i get all of my parts at cost price.

Even my cost price wasn't anywhere as near as cheap as ASP rubbers.

And just to let you all know. He does not recondition your old rubbers, mount etc.... He uses a new rubber, mount etc... Presses the old one off and presses the new one in. 9x out of 10 he has a c/o on the shelve saving you time and money.

dragging this thread back from the crypt... :D

headsup, have just dealt with ASP recently ==> 2 thumbsup!

ASP actually redesigns the whole rubber mount and manufactures it themselves,
then presses the new insert into the Mitsu mount metal housing ready for fitting.
They supply most of these inserts to mechanic shops nationwide.

Chatted with the director at length... they will only do rubber as poly is unsuitable
for a roadcar; racecars maybe - they'd also have rosejointed (no bush) suspension.

He sounds very proud of his own-designed 2nd gen 4cyl mounts which he says
removes heaps more vibration than stock Mitsu items... but I had no need for those.

Best of all is ASP can install them for you but workshop open ONLY on weekend,
which is PERFECT for ppl who have dayjobs or other occupations during mon-fri.
