View Full Version : CAI resornators
Hi guys
Just a question about the resornators that are on the elbow pipe going into the TB. The ones you can replace with gatorade lids, hope u know what i mean, anyway had mechanic friend tell me today that these can cause a pulsing effect with the air which can try and flow back through the MAS, which can cause a surging effect with the car. Is this true??
Hope u understand what i mean, ill try and get some pics posted so u can see
Cheers

It can cause damage to airflow sensors in other cars like Vectra - they cannot even change airfilters to K&N cos of the improved flow, is claimed.
I have never heard this (damage) to happen to a Magna.
But, there is no benefit of blocking the resonators, no power gain. And why would one do an engine mod if it didn't gain any power...?
It might increase the induction noise, but if u have hi flo muffler, that would overcome such noise anyway....

The induction noise ****s all over exhaust noise. Better to not get a straight through muffler and work on making the intake loud. The resonators are there to smooth pressure pulses but my engine didn't seem to mind when I blocked my ports off.
