hey everyone, im just getting a little concerned as my Magna doesnt not start first goanymore. As of this afternoon everytime i try to start it i get the initial rev up then it just dies. this happens twice then on the 3rd time it just maintains revs and idles normally. anyone know what could cause this problem so suddenly?
thanks

Don't know the cause, but this can happen after an ECU reset. It can take a while for it to work out the idle point. If it doesn't correct itself after a few days, it could be slightly more terminal.

have your idle control motor cleaned this is a common thing to play up on the magnas.
when my battery was on its way out it just wouldnt start. the dizzy plug is also a problem aswell get some co contact cleaner and give it a clean aswell

I have exactly the same problem.
- I have tried cleaning my throttle body & ISC Motor etc but didn't help.
- Tried adjusting Idle screw thing
- Changed spark plugs (helped)
- Checked all manifold vac hoses
It doesn't happen as often now but it still happens.
There are a heap of things that it could be.

Have you had your battery levels tested? Mine got worse as the days got colder.

Check your relays under the console, it is a largish relay, controls the ecu and the fuel pumps, this is a common cause.

well i got my car back from the mechanics today and it turned out that my idle and startup problems were a result of my upgraded alarm system playing with the ecu settings, giving it errors and what not. which was good as they fixed the problem with some kind of computer editing program (not too knowlodgeable on this) they have. good news!
bad news is though i have decided to sell up on my magna as i really want a manual car with a little more power. just will cost me too much to do this to the magna. so pretty soon im going to be working out a price that i can put on it :)
thanks for everyone's help on this problem though
