Hello all,
at the moment i'm saving up for some aftermarket engine management...
My choice for piggy back is the haltech interceptor which i believe is well suited to the magna but at the moment i'm having dilemmas as to whether or not to upgrade to the fully programable haltech e8 system...
In the future i plan to get stage 1 cams, dual throttle bodies joined to rpw inlet manifold with internal ram tubes

The interceptor is 1900$ fitted (pricey) but the e8 costs about $1700 then 1100$ fitted (that'd be enough for new loom etc wouldnt it??)

What do you guys think?? Any pros and cons??
thanks for any help

I woudl stay with the interceptor unit cause the E8 still only has four injector drivers which woudl mean converting from full sequential back to semi sequential injection which woudl drop fuel economy.
.

Dave, the magna actually fires two injectors together at the same time (1 and 4, 2 and 5, 3 and 6). It cannot be any other way as there are only three triggers from the camshaft and a single trigger from the crank for every "crank/engine" revolution. There is no home signal from the camshaft.

This means the ecu cannot possibly know when a piston is at top dead centre on "only" the compression stroke. It only knows when it is TDC for each and every stroke (i.e it doesn't know if it is the exhaust or compression strokes). If it was full sequential then one day it might fire the injectors close to the time of the intake stroke ... on another day it might fire them on the combustion stroke. So this is why the injectors actually fire twice for every cycle.

This is also why if you ditched the dizzy you cannot have independent ignition ... you have to run it as wasted spark.

I know the ECU actually has an "individual" driver (or connection) for each injector, but they are firing in pairs.

This means that a 4 driver computer is fine for the magna.

I hope that price is fitted and tuned! RRP is only $1190 unless it has changed.

I will need to double check the Mitsi V6 engines and you may be correct but I think mitsubishi will be running the same setup on our current models as on the 3000 GT and other models where they run two TDC pulses from the distributor, one at TDC 1 and another at TDC 4 which would enable them to run it in full sequential on the injector timing.

The problem with this setup is the usually use one short pulse for TDC1 and a longer pulse for TDC4 which is why aftermarket computers cannot always read them as they can only work with a constant pulse setup.

I will have to do some checking now - you have me thinking as I woudl be very surprised if it is running factory semi sequential.

I will confirm and let you know.

Got quoted $1300 for supply, install and tune of a GReddy for my AWD by MRT in Sydney. Is this flexible enough for my Supercharger install when Dave finally gets the kits ready?

If it'll run a TT setup, i can't see why it wouldn't be  does that $1300 include the injection and ignition harnesses as well? They're extra bits on an E-manage but are part of the Haltech package.

The only additional components you will need to purchase when you get a supercharger would be the additional Greddy MAP sensor, MAP sensor harness and one of our Auto Mini Box O2 sensor devices. Otherwise the greddy will do the job perfectly

Mate can you check and see if they'll do a couple for maybe slightly cheaper as i'm keen but the only thing is i already have the GReddy emanage (inj harness, ign harness etc etc) i just need it installed and tuned. Tuning is where the big money is involved.
So let me know how you go, as there could be quite a few who would want it done. But also check to see if they have a GReddy qualified installer and tuner as once it is rooted there's no going back.

pity you are not in Adelaide. we can do that easily here. supply, install and tune. All with warranty.
