Kk so ive finally finished all my fiberglassing in the boot, did the amp box, spent a good full day doing a top notch job on the wiring .. and plug my rears and sub into my 4chan amp.. and my vibe sub sounded ****. panicked and thought i have dropped the sub or such.. checked all wiring / interference, but all clear... so played around and whoopdee doo... only one channel from my amp is coming out with clear sound. the rest is really really bad scratchy sound.

is this the end of my boss 2900?

oh, just to be sure

check the ground cable on the amps. oh, and rotate around the RCA plugs around to see if its the signal coming from the h/u or the amp is stuffed.

my guess is the amp

Spend right and do it right the first time...

Get what u pay for unfortunately, sounds like ur amp is stuffed, quickly swap rca's from left to right at the amp... if its the same channel stuffing up then ur amp is stuffed.

yer its the same channels.. 3 out of the 4 produce crackly noise :) even after using diff cabling, same channels seem bleh.

yer well, ive got to get 2 X 4channel amps now, so $$$ has got to be looked at...

recommendations.. my budget would be within 500. ive noticed candance amps for around 220 each? any advice?

(please note i am not a sound sound person. i make sound look pretty, but know sfa about tech stuff)

Jaycar is your friend..
Cadence is also good and won't let you down..

You could go the BOSS way again.. Boss has had a bad rep but none of the Boss amps I have installed have ever showed signs of bad behaviour..

Alpine, Phoenix Gold, Pioneer, Soundstream, Zapco, Audison, Tru Tech etc etc

Cadence... meh...

Shy away from audioline, boss, etc etc...

U lookin 2nd hand? or new?

i dont mind 2nd hand... i could go refurbished 2nds off ebay...

boss is tempting cause of cheap $$$. and i had never had problems with it until now.. and i was told when i brought my sub, that i should really upgrade, but the fact im looking at getting two, is daunting to my wallet.

so i dont mind 2nds if it means i can get better quality.

check out www.caraudioaustralia.com for sale forums, good 2nd hand gear comes up fairly cheaply.

The older Alpine range are great (v12's) Also a few amps for sale in our fs forums.

Peace
