well i got mine in, and i hav it wired in through the cig lighter LED so, they should turn on with the headlights, but they dont...
basically, they hav a touchpad switch, and to turn them on i gotta turn the headlights on then press the switch, this is becoming a pain in the arse, so i tried joinin the wires before the switch and it didnt work for some reason, and also if you press it in to turn it on it turns on but wen u turn off the car and turn it back on again, you have to press the switch again to turn the el guages back on....
my question is does anyone know how i can hav it with out the switch??
is there some sort of switch i can buy or somethin?
cheers
sean
you dont want a switch, but you want a switch?

Should be able to bypass the touchpad switch.... post pics of the circuit...

yer dun want the switch that comes wif it, becuase u cant leave it switch in the on position, so if deres and other switch that will stay in the on postition then i will get one....
know wat i mean? like wen u turn the guages on then turn your car off, then turn it bak on again the guages are off and you need to press the switch again

you could simply cut the entire thing green circuit off and just put a standard switch in the red wire. grounding the black per normal. This would leave the lights on, but i belive it would be a pain to have to turn them off everytime you exited the car?

ahh these are EL lights arnt they? Is the inverter in the same box as the switch? If so, then you can't just bypass the switch.

well i hav mine wired in throght the cig lighter LED, so it will only be gettin power wen the headlights are on....
and, if i switched the red wire it wouldnt make a difference to the switch wire they hav runnin, as i said i tried joinin the wire before the switch and it didnt work...i think it is because it is a touchpad switch and it doent hav a on/off just a press so wen u press it it send the command back to the box to do the oppisite to what it is doing...
any1 know how it fixie?

heres some pics....one is of the actual touchpad switch and the other is the bak of the touchpad
mate if you run the power from the cig lighter 12v, it doesnt matter if your headlights are on or off, it doesnt affect the state of the gauges.
run a wire from 12v to a switch, then run another wire from the switch and tap it into the red wire coming out of the inverter.
(technodan... the invertor is seperate to the switch... he can jump in with his own switch and remove the button/switch that came with the gauges).
sean, this is basically what ill be doing in a few days.
the only thing i think you want that would be quite hard, is tapping into the cars stock leaver headlight thingie. so i duno if you cbf doing that.

dude you gotta cut/intercept the red wire that leads into that switch. tehnically, your chucking that switch away, and replacing it with a missile-like switch. something with a constant on/off position. pop into dicksmith and grab one.

This thing definitely has more logic then I first thought. There must be a control board elsewhere then. Where does that switch connect to?
the freekin inverter!!
heheh
am i talking to myself here

well i don't know, I don't have these gauges lol
Well can someone grab a pic of the insides of this 'inverter' ?

mate if you run the power from the cig lighter 12v, it doesnt matter if your headlights are on or off, it doesnt affect the state of the of gauges
ok, i have the power tapped off the LED that lights up the cig lighter...thus the headlights or parkers MUST be on for power to be sent to the LED, thus no power is present in that line with out the headlights on
run a wire from 12v to a switch, then run another wire from the switch and tap it into the red wire coming out of the inverter.
but how would that help, since i have tryed joining the wires that go into the switch....thus bypassing the switch all together, dont want another switch BUT, will hav one if it will stay in the on postion, and you can wire up a normal switch to replace the presspad because it simply wont work
(technodan... the invertor is seperate to the switch... he can jump in with his own switch and remove the button/switch that came with the gauges).
the invertor has several wires coming from it, and it is a sealed compartment that you cant open...
the only thing i think you want that would be quite hard, is tapping into the cars stock leaver headlight thingie. so i duno if you cbf doing that.
im not tapping into it becasue im runnoin my power to the guages from the cig lghter LED it will only supply power the the guages IF the headlights are turned on..
you dont need to see inside the inverter. just cut the red wire going from the inverter to the touchswitch. then, put a new switch nex to the inverter on the red wire, then put the other prong of the switch onto some spare leftover wire and connect that to the 12v.
:D
ill do it for you on sunday sean :) im in your area. just buy a switch from dick smith. fk that, ive got a spare, ill bring it :). you have my msn :)
