Ok, While saving up for my new system, I thought I would try and figure out how I want the install, after alot fo resarching and inspirations. I've come up with having 2x12" mounted in the boot facing outwards. Fairly standard, but I have a few design ideas up my sleeve that should make it a little more individual ;) But anyway, for the moment, what I need to know is some installation tips?
Now, is it as simple as cutting out a sheet of wood, whacking a couple of subs in it and sticking it in my boot? or will i have to make a whole "box" as such and slide that into my boot?
Now, from what I figured, i'f i lay down some insulation? sound deadening? whatever? at the rear of the boot, then have a plant of wood or whatever over the front, so u open the boot and would be a bit wood panel. The top would sit just infront of where the boot lid hinges are. now, would I then need to cover up in soem way the port hole from the rear seats into the boot? that bit of plastic in there must rattle a fair bit?

Am I on the right track? or way off? haha.

You'll have to make a whole box and slide it into your boot. I highly suggest you lay down some sound-deadening, (see Stinger Roadkill) throughout the boot, parcel shelf, doors, seats, and anywhere else you hear rattles. (Don't forget spare wheel well). Now the whole wood panel thing, I didn't quite understand, if you could explain it again, or hopefully someone else understood it so they can help! ;-)

My 2 cents ;-)

Ok, no it is not simpple..

Depending on What subs you get, what amps you get will all need much calcuelation and trail and error..

You have decided and want a rear loaded Boot setup ( Meaning you open the boot and see the Cone side of the sub )
Now the Boot of the Magna Narrows near the Wheel wells so you will need to make sure your enclosure will not only be the correct size for your subs but will also fit between the wheel wells, then you have to figure out how you will get access to your spare tyre in the time of an emergency..

basically , using any Paint Program.. Draw up a Diagram of what you want the boot install to look like, then from there we cam help you plan ahead..

Do you want a Basic install or a more advance one using a False floor so you can mount your amps to the boot floor.??
What Subs do you have in mind, as this will determine whether a ported or Sealed enclosure is the way to go

Go take a look at the hall of fame, then choose the ones you like and pm the dudes who made them for diagrams, etc. That way you don't have to think at all. Subs are a headache and a half, so many different types all needing different specs, custom this, custom that, so much time just designing it.

A piece of good advice, get the sub before making the box.

Get the exact sub not two different ones

Don't insulate anything cos you're so gonna melt something vital

G'day

Ok so in my tp ( sedan ) what i have done is mounted some pyramid pvc ( bought at Bunnings for about $15 a meter ) over the inside of the 4 doors, and parcel shelf as opposed to carpet or what ever. Then mounted 2 speakers in the front doors. and parcel shelf ( inside cab ) then in the boot i made up some brackets and mounted my amp under the parcel shelf ( with it being there i can easily access the front of it through the back seat that opens in the middle, and the back of it through the boot ) the brackets are similar shape to this
__ __
|______|

Next what i am working on is another pair of speakers and subs. what i am doing there is making up some boxes out of MDF and putting the oval speakers in each corner of the boot facing the front of the car but angled to the opposite side of where they are. and for subs, am going to do similar, using MDF will make up 2 seperate boxes and place them behind the seat itself facing the back of the car, but similarly to speakers they will be angled to face the opposite side of the car. ( this way i leave pretty much everything in tact, but i did lay some more carpet in the spare wheel well, and am making a carpet cover for the underside of the boot. but currently with the amp and 4 speakers, it sounds pretty sweet when i select ROCK in equalizer. the speakers pump like nothing i've seen before, and the sound doesn't escape too much with all the windows doors and boot shut.

p.s. basically when am finished the subs and speakers will face the opposite corner ( face each other so to speak ).

Hope this may be of some help :eeek: i know its several years late, but still hope it can help someone. admin delete if you wish
