I thought the guys at Bobjanes where pulling my leg when he said that the TJ VRX has a differant offset to the base models. He showed me his computer screen and i said "what The ****".. It said VRX had a 6mm narrower offset.
I damaged my lower control and hub assembly arm last year and picked up a new one from a wreckers. i had everyone in the world tell me they are all same so i got and verada one as i had ordered the brand new Mits one and it was gunna take two weeks.. I though they where the same and was kicking myself that i just spent $250 and i didnt need too..
I fitted a set of 20x8.5 inch rims with a 225 tyre on the car to see if they would fit and they did but the one on the drivers side was so close to the guard that i didnt like it.. I just though it was the car as i had bend something underneath.. Yesterday we had my car on the wheel alignment machine and i had a mate do the front and check the rear for me as i wanted to know how bad it was bent.. He said the rear was goodand there was nothing wrong and i was puzzled.. Which made me spend two days thinking about what was going on..
It all makes sense now.. I have a Base model arm on that side which is making it a very tight fit for a 225/35 and a good fit on the passangers side.. Looks like i will be fitting the new arm after all and will try and get 245/35 on there on Wed and hope to god they fit as 225/35 are to small and look **** on a 8.5 inch rim..

225 on a 8.5inch rim is illegal anyhow.. They are meant for 7inch rims dood..

its the 20" that makes it expensive. not the 245/35 or 245/30

I'm still not clear on what 'offset' you're talking about. Obviously not rim offset (?) - you're saying one control arm is longer etc - isn't that then a matter of more camber?

Offset is the distance between the two hubs which the wheel sits on(Studs).. VRX as a 6mm narrower offset there u can fit a wider wheel.. Base modles are 6 mm wider so the wheels are a tighter Squeeze.. Id Assume Ralliarts and VRX is the Same.. Not sure about sports..
U understand now Larry..?? :D

so what exactly is the different component? The hub? I'm still thinking that VRX are the same as all else but you've got a mutant car...

Ahh so its the mysterious lower control arm (arrowed X 2 in pic) - there ARE 2 types of those (one with bolts, one with nuts) but as far as I heard before it was a random plot as to which car got what of those.

That pic is the rear suspension... is that what you've been talking about all along - the REAR of the car?
